55" Samsung UN55ES7100 1080p 240Hz WiFi 3D LED HDTV with 4-Pairs of 3D Glasses $1294 + Free Shipping

Is this something I would want to get for my living room, or is it overkill? My wife and I watch television maybe one hour a night, my son plays Playstation and Xbox all the time, and we usually watch a movie or two a week. I do want a 3-d tv. Any suggestions?

Anyone know what can be done with the 3 USB ports? Keyboards? Camera?

Nice TV. I got this for about 8 months, Only drawback you need either sound bar or HT to listen to this tv. Crappy on board 20watt speakers. Change settings follow avforums.

A friend had a high end Samsung that died after 6 months and Samsung would not honor the warranty. That was all I needed to know to rule out Samsung.

Anecdotal evidence is anecdotal. I'm sure you'll have a hard time buying a TV from anyone with that viewpoint. Buy a SquareTrade warranty if you're that spooked.

Not overkill, depending on viewing distance. As long as your living room is > 8 feet deep, I'd say you're good. The only factor that comes in with the wife is if it looks 'tacky big' - this is subjective and hard to judge. Go buy some poster board from wally world, cut it into a 55" diagonal 16:9 ratio, and hang where you'd put the TV. See if she digs.

also jump/hard drive. I put movies on a big jump drive and leave it there for my daughter to watch whenever she feels like it. You can also put photos, do upgrades if your TV is not connected to the Internet for some reason.

Why did samsung stop including VGA inputs on their tv's?
