good luck with that, CCL has limited the 'gimmies' that TAs are permitted to provide from the up to 10% OBC you used be able to find to this: value-added incentives limited to items that have a value of $25 per passenger or less, such as tote bags, beach towels and sunglasses.

sign up for CCL sales via their website, if eligible for past guest or military rates, they are often very good

it's never produced a lower rate but many advocate crusecompete website, probably good for those who don't want to dig for sales on their own.

Crucon is another option but has cancellation fees associated with their agency bookings above those of the cruiselines. They gave us the best OBCs/free specialty dining/prepaid gratuities on a recent RCCL cruise.

Join Carnivals Facebook page and check their website weekly. Last week they offered $200 onboard credits per room. This week they are offering discounts for returning members. There is always some sort of deal going on. We have already booked and paid for our 2nd cruise this year.

I wanted to add that upon booking you can see where the rooms are located on the boat... Of course the lower you go the cheaper they get. We try to stick to 7 or higher. Balcony rooms are much cheaper than suites... To get more bang for your buck with a balcony room, try finding a handicapped room.. Much more room

Ooh...and... Lol, I love cruises, can you tell? When booking see if your port of departure and ship offer Faster to the Fun passes. Only 1 person in the room needs to buy it ($29) and it can be shared with everyone in the room. You get early entrance onto the boat (no waiting in lines), you get your luggage hours before everyone else, at each port you can get off and on the boat thru special line (again no waiting), and upon debarkation you can just walk off the boat no waiting (this is the best... No one likes waiting 2hrs lugging their bags 1 ft at a time thru the whole ship). Not every port offers this... I really hope yours does... Best $ spent

Has anyone had any success with the $20 tip trick? Thinking of booking the cheapest room & then tipping (bribing) the porter for an upgrade

on a cruise?! cruises sail completely booked 99% of the time. Your chances of an upgrade the day of are very, very, very, very.....very slim
