Isn't the whole point of the burner max payload tool to eliminate the need for 'B' drives? I'm pretty sure any IHAS drive can be used to burn xgd3 games now, unless you absolutely insist on flashing

Yeah, that's how it was until they released the payload tool. I have an IHASB myself so I can't really say how well it works, but I haven't seen many complaints that don't exist with the standard flashed drive

lol I was working in best buy as a teenage in 05-06 when bluerays came out. $2000 for a sony blueray...no u can get one for like $50

In 2013, a drive that doesn't even read blu ray (let alone write one) is a pretty niche/short-sighted thing to buy, even at $16. OK deal if you fit in that niche, but lame move by mods to promote to FP IMO. It actually took me a minute to realize it was only DVD, since I assumed no one would bother to make FP a drive that doesn't do blu ray. And I don't think the last DVD write I bought (probably at least 2-3 y3ars ago) was much more than this anyway.

What next, a clearance sale on 1980s dedicated word processors & buggy whips? Why not, same reasoning applies, there are still horses & horse-drawn buggies out there, so SOMEONE will find it a deal ...

o yeah another FYI. This drive is bitchin loud. Put in a cd in and it sounds like a spoon civic reving up to 12k. If you don't mind noise and not being able to burn xbox360 game with payloader then its not too bad of a deal.

Until we see 100 packs of BluRay discs on here for $15 or under, these drives will still be relevant.

Hard to tell if this thing supports lightscribe. One image has a lightscribe logo on the burner, one doesn't. (And yes, I need a burner that supports lightscribe.)

According to NewEgg reviews does not appear to have light scribe.

This is a barebones type drive, but for $16 it'll be nice to have around as a backup incase I build a budget pc for a friend/relative, or if one of mine fails.

Nothing special here, burners like this have been in the 15-20 range for awhile, definately not front page worthy

so these wont burn xgd3 games? i have one already but might get this for backup.
