Thanks, moving out soon and my PC doesn't have a DVD drive so this will fit the bill perfectly.

In 2013, a drive that doesn't even read blu ray (let alone write one) is a pretty niche/short-sighted thing to buy, even at $16. OK deal if you fit in that niche, but lame move by mods to promote to FP IMO. It actually took me a minute to realize it was only DVD, since I assumed no one would bother to make FP a drive that doesn't do blu ray. And I don't think the last DVD write I bought (probably at least 2-3 y3ars ago) was much more than this anyway.

What next, a clearance sale on 1980s dedicated word processors & buggy whips? Why not, same reasoning applies, there are still horses & horse-drawn buggies out there, so SOMEONE will find it a deal ...
Kthxbye!

Until we see 100 packs of BluRay discs on here for $15 or under, these drives will still be relevant.

Good deal.
No interest in even being able to read a blu ray disc? A lot of other people will probably be burning them, long before you hit your magical 15 cents / disc (!) price point, I'll predict.

Liteon drives are excellent at reading and writing discs, I don't know what you're talking about :p. I've owned several liteons and not one of them died from regular use.

just to let you know its version W. I was the one that got the title changed since I received 2 version W from amazon and called and bitched. This won't work with loader to burn xbox360 game. Try ihas 324.

Can this drive burn XBOX games ? (for back up)

list of xgd3 compatible lite on drives:

1.Liteon iHAS224B = 124 + LightScribe
2.Liteon iHAS324B = 124 + SmartErase
3.Liteon iHAS424B = 124 + LightScribe + SmartErase (or = 224 + SmartErase)
4.Liteon iHAS524B = 124 + LabelTag + SmartErase
5.Liteon iHAS624B = 124 + LabelTag + LightScribe + SmartErase (or = 524 + LightScribe)

OP please add that this drive cannot be flashed with Burner Max firmware but it CAN burn XGD3 backups!

Before buying any drive try using the Burner Max payload tool first: http://www.ixtreme.net/ixtreme-lt...-15-a.html

This drive is compatible with the Payload tool and will burn XGD3 backups just as good as any 124 (B) model. woot

If you order from Newegg instead of Amazon, there is not sales tax either.

You know what would make me feel the dinosaur in WHiCh y0u SpEak?! Paying what you pay for blank blu rays in 2013 instead of relying on NAS. That would take me back to the days of people paying 1100 for a 386 SX with 2800 baud. : )

@ the "No Litescribe" comments. I've had a scribe capable drive since 2008. Used it once. Of course back then the colors were pretty cruddy looking -- maybe that's improved.

bought one, thanks! and this drive CAN burn XGD3 games if you use the BurnerMax Payload tool. You just can't flash the firmware on the drive that is all.

I thought you could only burn XGD3 if you had burnermax flash

you can use the burnermax payload tool with any compatible drive

The "iXtreme Burner MAX" customized PC DVD burner fw allows for burning 100% of an XGD3 ISO to regular DVD+R DL discs. Preferred media for error-free burns are Verbatim MKM001 (burning at 2.4x), and Verbatim MKM003 (burning at 2.4x or 4x). All regular features of the burner function as normal, including LightScribe, LabelTag, Smart-Erase, Smart-Burn, Smart-X, and SuperAllWrite. Even with the custom iXtreme Burner MAX fw flashed to the drive, it is still fully functional as a regular burner, not only for XGD3, but also XGD2, and all other ISOs and data, up to 8.7GB worth.
Click here for a list of cross-flashable drive models that support Burner MAX firmware

Cross-Flashable Models

In addition to the normal Lite-On iHAS "B" burners (124B, 224B, 324B, 424B, 524B, 624B), there are several other drive models of different brands that can be cross-flashed to an iHAS by using the original Lite-On iHAS firmware and EEPROM utilities. These cross-flashable drives are re-badged OEM drives, which means they are manufactured by Lite-On and contain the same internal hardware and components as the Lite-On iHAS, but are sold under a different brand name (ASUS, Dell, HP, Plextor, TEAC), some with a different faceplate/bezel on the front of the drive, and/or with different retail packaging.

Please note that the cross-flashable drive models marked with a * in the list below have multiple revisions, of which only the "B" revision is supported. Revision "Y" (NEC chipset), "A" (older MTK chipset), "C" (MTK chipset/1MB flash), and "D" (MTK chipset/1MB flash) are not compatible. c4eva's custom Burner MAX firmware is based on the Lite-On iHAS "B" revision which has an MTK chipset with 2MB flash.

The revision letter is usually indicated somewhere on the retail box and also on the label sticker on the drive itself. For some drives, the revision letter is part of the drive model, or appears near or after the end of the drive model on the label sticker. Depending on when a particular model was manufactured and the retail destination country/region, the configuration and placement of the stickers may be slightly different; different arrangement, dual barcodes, different certification logos, and so on. If you are purchasing a cross-flashable drive online or from a retail store, you should have customer service or the salesperson check the label on the box or the sticker on the drive to ensure that it is in fact a "B" revision.

Please refer to the gallery of images on the dedicated iHAS & cross-flashable list page for examples of some of the different revisions' drive label stickers and box labels.

The following drive models are confirmed capable of being cross-flashed with c4eva's iXtreme Burner MAX firmware:

You realize you replied to my post which talks about the need to have a blu ray READER not WRITER?

I only have a WHS server box in my house. Definitely not as cool as your NAS.
