I got a used one last time this was on sale from Amazon Warehouse. The receiver had obviously been opened up and the corners of the front of the receiver were scraped up pretty badly. Didn't even come with the original box. Was supposed to be in "very good" condition and it wasn't up to that description. Contacted Amazon on the matter and they gave me a partial refund, so it only ended up being about $106 bucks. I've been very happy with it and the sound quality is great when you use the auto calibration settings.

I've had this receiver for almost a month now and haven't experienced any problems...average use of like 6-8hrs a day. |

My goal is to keep my rep count higher than my post count.....

My first two systems were Onkyo HTIB, both are now gifted and still kicking. I finally upgraded to a custom speaker system but stuck with a high-end Onkyo receiver. If you need the whole system for less than <$800, just get an Onkyo HTIB. |

Reviews aren't bad - everyone warns you to update the firmware right away. Not listening leads to issues so it's on you.
I'm waiting for the TX-NR515 to go on sale - anyone believe that will go on sale? EDIT: Apparently Onkyo just launched (or is coming soon) the TX-NR525, so the NR515 will likely go on sale in the next month or two, I'll probably wait until that happens. The only thing I have to worry about now is selling the HT-S3500 home theater in a box system I picked up from Best Buy for $150. That was supposed to be for my Father but this receiver is a nice step up from the HT-R391 that comes with the other system. If they drop the 509 down another $10 I might pick up another for the shop. ![]() WB |
