http://www.nextpvr.com/ It has recurring recordings, adjustable padding on broadcast times, and lots of plugins including XBMC that I haven't played with. I hate WMC in comparison. |

Somewhat related...
I got the HDHomeRun Prime (3 tuner; $150 deal - 10% off one-time prome code) yesterday. Had it up and running on two computers in a matter of hours (most of it just "wait time" as it supposedly takes 45 minutes to an hour to fully "activate" the channel lineup, etc. Also, my computer wouldn't initially detect the tuners. I had to remove FFDshow/Shark007 codec pack from my computer as it interferes with the tuners. Once I did that and restarted, it detected the tuners. A big upgrade over two DTA boxes ($4/month rental for the pair). Now I can do any channel we subscribe to, in HD or SD, directly without the need for remote transmitters (to tell the DTA box what to do) and since we don't have to split the signal to two DTA boxes, the signal strength/picture is better. To boot, the cable card is only $1.50/month. That's only $2.50/month savings, so it'd take a few years to recoup the cost of the tuner box, but well worth it for the added benefits. Even moreso if and when I set up our PS3 in our game room to stream from the tuners -- that will save us about $10/month for the box rental. |
