all lego sets are collectible, some just explode in price after they retire, and some dont. If you keep it in good condition you can almost always sell it used for MSRP or above later on without an issue. Some just make a lot more money than others and that is anyones guess

Great price if it had held up. Of all the Hobbit sets, this is most iconic. Goblin King has been on perpetual sale.

This set is the best of the bunch. Also the others are right that it hasn't been discounted. I am not saying you can retire on it, I am just saying that yes, at some point in time someone will be juiced to find this NIB. I don't know if LEGO has the right to make multiples of this series but I doubt they would even if they could. The hobbit, as important as it is, is never going to be like Star Wars. The Lego star wars thing is so overdone that kids today think Lego invented it lol. Hope that doesn't happen here, but I highly doubt it. Paying for UPS Basic or Fedex smartpost makes me

I gotta figure the price drops more after movie sales slow down in a couple weeks, right? I assume if it gets below $50, or 40%ish off the issue could be finding a set in stock.
Huge Hobbit fan, this is the only set I really want, but think I'll pass and take my chances. |
