Whats the update on the unlocking phones ban thing? Is it now safe to buy an unlock code on ebay for an iPhone and unlock an iPhone 5 which I am planning to buy from some one who purchased it for from AT&T and is looking to sell it? |

But really though can any one tell me if its legal or not? I found some one who is selling his iPhone 5 16gb for $375 on craigslist its not stolen or anything and I want to buy it today - but I want to know about this whole unlocking thing because it seems like sellers on ebay are offering the service again for less than $2 Last edited by Schooby; 03-15-2013 at 09:59 AM.. |

Its not stolen or anything? For 375? ![]() *Edit Oh but I think the deal with those unlocking places is that they arent in the US... So no worries... Buy them both!

Stan: No, dude. America may have some problems, but it's our home. Our team. And if you don't wanna root for your team, then you should get the hell out of the stadium. Kyle: Yeah. Stan: <salutes the American flag> Go America. Kyle: <salutes> Go America... Stan: Go Broncos Kyle: Yeah go Broncos. Cartman: Yeah... |

If you are unsure you can check the carrier, unlock status and iPhone information here: http://www.imeicheckno Taken from: http://www.iphoneunloc Due to the recent legislation passed by the Library of Congress for the Digital Millenium Copyright Act (DMCA), we are forbidden to unlock devices that were manufactured on January 1st, 2013 and later. We will not be held liable for unknowingly unlocking a device that was made from this date onwards. Hope this was helpful. Regards, Ray |

I dont think unlocking the iPhone 5 or any other iPhone is a problem these days since they are still selling the factory unlock codes on ebay for a few dolalrs, I guess my real and ultimate question is this - would my aunt get into any kind of a trouble later down the road{this whole thing back firing on to her because of me unlocking "her" iPhone 5 which she is going to give me} Im asking this because she is the one with the AT&T contract so the iPhone 5 is going to be under her name obviously and I dont want to be the reason that may cause her any problems later on by getting fined or even worst going to jail because of this. |

Which one is true? |

The real issue in here is that u dont know if some government official is going to come knocking down your door one day and present u with a fine or you end up getting a letter saying that you been fined for $5000 or $10,000 dollars for unlocking your iPhone. No one seems to even know whats going on in here or care. |
