The coupon is not exclusive to Surface, as we all know. Of course, this doesn't change the lackluster sale numbers. For what I need to use it for, it's great, and my price point was $399 with 100% paid with rewards. Compared to my Note 10.1, it's built like a tank! I wish RT also came with a stylus. Oh well.

Why would anyone get a Surface over an Envy x2? (Assuming Surface plus keyboard).

Oh of course not and that's a valid point. But I know many (including myself) are (very) tempted by the device especially with these coupons, but also realize more aggressive pricing might be in the pipeline to boost sales. If I had the rewards I'd probably buy at this price, right now I only have $80. I just thought those toying with the idea of the Surface (and don't need it now) might be interested in the article as it could point to better deals sooner than later.

Ok troll. You gave specs for a Surface PRO, when I was asking about a Surface. (Now realize I ask about Surface plus a keyboard which is $600 and the Envy x2 is, you guessed it, $600. Why would anyone compare a $900 product to a $600 product?)

Surface has a Tegra 3, 2gb RAM, etc etc.

You should also consider the cost of Office 2013. RT includes Office RT (it lacks some functions, but nothing earth shattering), whereas with the Atom-based models, you'll have to pay extra for the Office suite. Of course, if you don't need/want MS Office, this is an irrelevant point.
