You can buy 123s pretty inexpensively if you do so in bulk. I grabbed a 12 or 24 pack of surefire brand 123s from botach for less than a buck a battery.

I have a Fenix TK15. It's a nice light, but I don't think it was worth the $80 I paid a year ago. Honestly, I like the $12 Meritline light that is always on sale here better.
I use 18650's all the time for a bunch of lights I have. Never a problem. I have protected cells and a cheap charger. I charge the cells while I'm at home and take them out of the charger when the charging cycle has finished. |

I have a 315-lumen Fenix. Love the separate on/off and dimmer switches, brightness, and the quality. I also own several other cheaper CREE XML-T6 with supposed 1600 lumens, which doesn't seem to be as bright as the Fenix, using the same 18650 batteries. I don't understand how they (sellers on eBay) can claim such huge number of lumens. Is this just false advertisement for marketing purposes? Am I not comparing apples and apples? Please help me understand.

And in the case of the lights with multiple LEDs, the nonames usually just take the max potential rating then multiply it by the number of emitters then voila you get an uber number.

You can get 900lm (yes, actual output, not just potential) crees for ~$70, I don't see the appeal with something so mid-range.
