Chase Freedom Exclusives - Change to Earning Points
Starting as early as April 1, 2013 for some Chase Freedom Exclusives customers, Ultimate Rewards points will be earned differently than how they are currently.
Currently, for those with a Chase Freedom credit card and a Chase Checking account cardholders earn :
- 10 points per transaction, and
- 10% bonus points on the 1% of purchases
(basically 1.1% on all purchases or 5.1% on rotating categories, plus 10 points per transaction)
With the change, cardholders will NOT earn either of those. Instead you will earn an annual dividend of 10% of ALL points earned throughout the year. So you will basically earn 1.1% on all purchases or 5.5% on rotating categories. In addition you will earn 10% extra points on points earned by shopping the Ultimate Rewards Mall.
This change is good if most of your purchases are in 5% cash back categories, but not so good if you make a lot of small purchases.
