Heads up - This is a cheap nylon bag, not a hikers bag. Do a search on Kelty bags and compare the material and weight. Camp bag is the low end, I have the basecamp and it is a great bag and in this instance you get what you pay for - the rip stop poly is a lifesaver.

Actually the same site has the camp kelty for almost same price - I would go with that over the nylon.

I got this bag for about the same price several months ago. I've yet to use it, because of one extremely irritating design detail: the shoulder strap, which is sewn in and not removeable, is attached really low on the bag, causing the bag to tend to flip over when you use the strap. It's fine otherwise, but that one detail is really confounding... what were they thinking??

I brought the medium size verson last summer. I've taken this bag on international trips, including a "backpacking trip" to Peru/Bolivia, completely jammed with clothes and various other stuff. The zipper is strong. The bag went through a couple washing machine cycles, and over 7 flights as checked luggage.

The strap is located in a balanced location if your pack is consistently balanced. If you put heavy stuff on the bottom, then yes, it will flip WHEN you first pick it up. If you have the strap up high, it will put a lot of stress to the surrounding fabric, either affecting durability, or cost/weight (adding more material). This bag was quite comfortable being strapped to my body almost as a backpack. (The medium size one anyway).

How would the bag flip if there is more weight on the bottom? Doesn't that go against gravity? wouldn't it be the opposite

I think that this bag is not a good buy because the straps are white. The white color tends to get dirty very fast when camping or other uses.

Sold out, but the email they sent me saying the item was sold out came with a $5.00 coupon, so it may be worth it just to try and order.
