Like many things it depends what you're using it for and whether you're willing to tinker with it (bumping the memory or swap that old SSD you replaced on your other computer into it.) As shipped, you can easily turn a profit on them just printing extra copies of online grocery coupons. For an active couponer, getting just an extra $20 worth of coupons each month would pay for this in less than six months. (Incl tax, etc.) I have a couple I picked up off of Craig's List sitting on a shelf. Slap on TeamViewer, LogMeIn, or some other free remote control software, sit at your main computer, and just copy and paste the coupon links over for extra copies. (Printed to a network printer.) Other ideas: You can stick a 3G/4G modem on one and use it as a fancy router/hotspot. Stick Spiceworks on it and use it to monitor and manage a clients network. Hook it to your TV with a Logitech T650 touchpad and you've got something better than a Roku. Etc. For a lot of the above, spending extra money for "better" wouldn't gain you anything but a lighter wallet. |

A lot of people have unused 64GB SSDs that they've since replaced with larger. Keep in mind too, Staples recently had 128GB SSD's for $90 BEFORE $25 off $75 coupons (No, no t everyone gets them, but a lot of people do. They send me one or two a month for whatever reason. I use them too!) I wouldn't suggest these for most folks, but for folks with niche needs that don't care if the netbook is beat up some, you'd maybe get better on CL, but the aggravation and time would be significant. |

The other big issue is the screen. 1024 X 600 is painful to use to surf the web. Since most web pages are tuned, at least, for 1024X720, you're constantly scrolling around. All of this and it's much heavier and bulkier than your typical tablet.

I bought one of these last week when it was a deal of the day, and this is a much better buy! I couldn't resist buying another. I realize that this is not fast, and that it chokes on hd video, and the resolution can be tiring after a while, but I like netbooks for going on junking trips. Just pull it out from under the seat, fire it up, and check to see if that item you are thinking of buying is a good deal or not. I spent more than this on a tablet a couple of years ago and this will be much more useful. I installed Ubuntu on the one from last week. For this one I'll research how to install 7 starter on it. I can easily sell it when I am tired of it and get my money back or more. Thanks OP! I guess I'll just have to stop coming to Slickdeals.
