I own the last version and use it for my itunes collection, but also have a Roku because of all the extra channels and ease of using PLEX for streaming from my laptop.

Does anyone know if there is an easy way to update the firmware in the new AppleTV like the old ATV-stick? That's what I used with the old Gen1 before upgrading. Thanks in advance people.

Go with Roku 3! Tons of channels, and private channels, check out my post above for an article mentioning many of them and how to use the machine easiest. Just a great selection. Plus the itunes channel for podcasts. But if you have a large itunes video library already, maybe AppleTV.

Yea i was leaning towards the Roku 3. Mainly for the .mkv support since my xbox can already handle avi and m4p. I have zero itunes videos, they are all, well, from other sources lol.

yes, you can import it to your iTunes and choose to stream it to your Apple TV.
If you can't import it to iTunes, then maybe use software like AirParrot.
