This is a good deal. Doubled by the fact that the vendor is great. I purchased mine from them awhile back and was shipped fast. Also I had a few questions that Chris replied to in no time.
The headphones themselves are outstanding. My test was a long haul flight ... And I didn't know how over the ear would feel, and how not having noise canceling would effect things. End result, I didn't have ear fatigue and I couldn't hear the drone of the airplane! Get these while you can.
I've used these for gaming for years now. I've used them in Call of Duty games and they have worked very well. I can tell exactly where a person is depending on the sound that comes through the headphones. I would say the soundstage is good enough! You should see me beast with these headphones on, don't test me!
Oh these will definitely be better than 90% of the headsets/headphones out there for gaming. They will particularly obliterate any headset marketed specifically as "gaming" headphones.
But if you're looking to drop $100 on headphones that are for gaming only, then there are a few open back sets in this price range that offer a wider soundstage and more positional accuracy. This is just an objective truth about the design of closed-back headphones.
These are still great for gaming, and in some ways may even have a more "exciting" sound with the enhanced bass, but if one is obsessed solely with finding the largest and most accurate soundstage for the money, there are better options in the price range.
Overall I love these headphones. They are great built quality and have excellent sound quality. One negative for me is that they start hurting the area around my ears from the headphones pushing so much pressure against my head. I have a larger than average head (not freakish large or anything) size so that may be the problem. I ran across a few people complaining about the same problem on forums and apparently there is a fix for it. I just haven't looked into it yet, I've only had the headphones for a couple months without much time to listen to them.
So if you have an above average sized head I would be slightly wary about purchasing. If the fix alters the performance or look of the headphones, I will most likely be selling my pair....which is unfortunate. :/
I don't know if this will help but I recently purchased the m30 and I really like it. I am sure m50 is much better and if it was $99 at the time of my purchase, about a month ago, I probably would have gone with the m50 but nevertheless I enjoy the m30.
FYI, I am not very knowledgeable about sound in general but am an average user. So keep that in mind.
