If you had a yard sale and made a few bucks would you notify the IRS? Of course not. eBay doesn't issue a 1099, or notify the IRS on sales. Why would any do that if its not their full time income?

Actually, would you like to see my 1099-K from the last 2 years? Also, I live in Pennsylvania where if they catch you at a flea market or having a yard sale and not reporting, they fine you up to $1000!

Do you do over $20,000 in transactions through PayPal?

I am selling through my massive game collection, so I'm going to power list as much as I can this weekend-- last time I checked, 0.05*500 is 25.00, let alone the listings that will cost me .50 a pop.

Also I just got a message from a buyer who said they received an empty envelope. Why do people gotta be scamming? :-(

I don't list more than 50 items a month, and it's been free to list for a long time inclucing auction and buy it now.

I wish they would just leave it like that, not sure why they don't, like 500 a month or something free, would be nice.

They give the first 50 free, so unless you sell A LOT it probably won't seem like a deal to you, but I list probably 400 a month, so it really helps me out.

Exactly! Good point.
If you don't like Ebay, then whatever. Many won't sell enough to have to bother reporting, and will end up saving at least some change for this service with this heads up.

Last month I sold an iPhone 4 for $265 in <5 min (no joke). It took me longer to create the listing on my phone. No List fee or FVF. Ebay has been pretty okay.
