I ordered the second one because I'm a serious gardner and need some serious tools. They must have made a mistake because I got a freight shipment of 320+ rakes. Sometimes you get lucky.

These are good for light to moderate digging only. I've had two similar fiberglass handle shovel, and I broke them digging holes for fence posts. The handles are hollow and break fairly easy. If you have heavy digging, get a better shovel. I bought a Kobalt from Lowe's with a wooden handle. It's breakable, but much stronger and it has a lifetime replacement warranty.

I bought a fiberglass shovel in 2009. Best money I ever spent. I've dug in heavy clay soil that even an auger wouldn't break through. I've planted over 20 large size trees and shrubs, and countless smaller plants. The problem most have is, they try to force things. If you feel it bending a little, stop, take it out, and try a different angle. |
