I went the opposite way with my Tablet. I bought a Galaxy Tab 10.1 (The original). It lasted about 7 months before the LCD started going bad. I bought it at Target and didn't keep the receipt, so I called up Samsung asking them how I could get it repaired. They said since I didn't have a receipt they were going to start the warranty from the manufacture date, which meant my warranty was already expired. They ended up telling me that if I wanted to get it repaired, it would be something $50 to look at it to tell me what was wrong, plus the cost to ship it to them, and a prepaid return postage if I wanted it back. They couldn't even tell me how much it would actually cost to replace the screen. Now I have a $400 paper weight sitting around my apartment.
On the other hand, I bought a Nexus 7 from the Play Store and it ended up having a problem with the charging cord after about 3 months. I had been putting it in a holder that put some pressure on the cord at an angle, so I think it might have actually been my fault. I called Google to get it replaced, which only took about 15 minutes. They sent me a new Tablet that I received about 3 days later. All I had to do was slap the broken tablet in a box, send it out with the pre-paid shipping label, and a few days later I got the confirmation they received it.
Take from this what you will, but I'm not buying anything Samsung again.
You should've bought the Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 10.1
