This week, Radioshack got Virgin Mobile LG Optimus Elite Smartphone [radioshack.com] on sale for $49 (regular price $99). No contract is required!
Use the $10 off $20 coupon from here or print it straight from Radioshack Facebook [facebook.com] to bring the price down to $39.

This might not be the most powerful Android device out there (duh!), but for only $39, it's still a great entry-level and/or backup smartphone. It runs on Android 2.3.7, has a 3.5-inch HVGA touchscreen, 800MHz processor (actually runs at 1024MHz according to independent CPU tests), Wi-Fi and microSD capability, 5MP autofocus rear-facing camera and camcorder with flash.

Rep / thumb / share!

Hi, I grandfathered the $25 plan from my Triumph. I'm looking to change it to Elite. Can anybody confirm if I still grandfather the $25 plan if I switch to Elite?

Parents already have a Virgin Mobile phone, but I can still buy this and activate with Virgin to keep their same numbers right?

Thanks! Not too familiar with VM since I use Tmobile.

Is it still possible to swap one of these onto the grandfathered $25 plan? I'm guessing not?

Doubt it. I believe old Triumph was the last device capable of that. As of right now, all newer phones 'supposedly' automatically switch ya to $35 plan.

I was wondering that too. I got one for my son a few months ago and was able to grandfather him in, but technically I shouldn't have been able to. Has anyone tried it? I'd like to replace my old Optimus V.

I am wondering the same thing too. Won't get it if it can't be grandfather to the $25 plan.

Actually, I just googled "virgin mobile grandfathered $25 plan optimus elite" and it DOES look like it works on $25 plan for many people

YES!

YES! I can personally confrim that this phone still works on the grandfathered plan as long as you already have it. Just activated mine 3 months ago and the billing has still been at $25 / month. It is a good phone and we are very happy with it, especially for the price paid.

I did and am very happy with the decision. Lost my ability to do WiFi Hotspot though. Overall it runs much smoother and we have less issues than the V.

Is it worth it upgrading from Optimus V: TOTALLY, Unequivocally yes.

I was on Optimus V on the $25 grandfathered plan. I was able to continue with the $25 on the OE.

However, I bought the Samsung Galaxy S2 and got bumped up to the $35 plan and when I returned the SGS2 and went back to OE, they wouldn't let me switch back to $25 plan.

Does anyone know how I can switch back to the $25 plan?

Added Later:
I never used the hotspot feature on Optimus V nor on the OE. I have no experience with that.
Basically with the so called 3G speeds that sucks d***** b***s (at least in my area), I never bothered with it.
