The wireless setup seems like it won't work in most installations. The video says to open your browser to 192.168.1.1, but that address is, in most cases, the address of your wireless router (or the cable company's router). Your thermostat will NOT be at that address because two devices can not be assigned the same address. I suppose you have to hunt for the correct IP address, starting with 1.2 until you somehow figure out you have connected to the thermostat.

It's a mystery. Unfortunately I don't have an extra wire and I have no C, so this wouldn't work for me, even if there was a rebate in my state....so I'll never know the solution to the above

The deal is good in Ma though....if you can get it installed in your home. Check for that extra wire in the wall before you buy or you will be returning the thermostat. Oh, and don't forget to have it installed professionally, if that's required....I guess that makes this not such a good deal after all....if your rebate requires a professional install.

In MA, at least, there is a $100 rebate for pro installations and $25 for self-installations. If the pro install is around $75, they will break even, but the deal is ruined.

you can change the router's default ip to something else then go there. Unless your cable modem does wifi, it shouldn't be a problem. The cable modem connects to the WAN port of your router, so on the WAN side it's another network.
