I was picking up some items for a project at my local Home Depot (Shrewsbury, MA) when I stumbled upon a Slick Deal. Near the registers they are promoting a rebate for Honeywell WiFi Programmable thermostats.

There are two options, one for $119.98 and one for $149.98. I selected the $119.98, 7-day model. The more expensive one has a touchscreen. They both work through an app on your smart phone so you can control your heating and air conditioning from anywhere.

There are forms by the thermostats for up to a $100 mail-in rebate. Thus, my $119.98 purchase will be $19.98 (without sales tax) once I receive the check in the mail. If for some reason you find the thermostats for less than $100, you won't receive the full $100 back in rebate form. You need a copy of the receipt and the UPC code for the rebate. You also have to be sure that your gas or electric company is compatible. There is a clearly stated list of approved companies on the rebate.

I recommend checking your local Home Depot for the rebate deal!

LINK [homedepot.com].

Rebates [wifithermostat.com] are energy company specific, so YMMV. THIS [greenohm.com] is OP's rebate.

You need more info in the title. Finding a Honeywell Thermostat in Home Depot isn't really YMMV

The "up to" part makes me skeptical. Are you sure it's not the $150 model that gives you $100 back and you get less for the $120 model?

Is the rebate specific to Honeywell or specific to the power company that is local to you?

This is not a manufacturer's rebate, correct? Probably a state energy rebate program. Do you have the dates the rebate is valid for? Probably no shot for this in CA, but maybe when I am in ME in a few weeks I can find it.

The Honeywell rebate site that MadPup linked says:
"Using a licensed/qualified installer or contractor is required in order to obtain a rebate on this product."

The rebate I was given indicates valid on purchases during 2013 calender year.

Please put which location/gas company you got the rebate for. It does not seem to be nationwide.
