It's the Apple strategy of incremental updates. You upgrade just enough to entice those that skipped the last generation. The iPhone has been running with that since the 3GS came out. Samsung started theirs with the S2. At this point, I'm just hoping the next Nexus phone supports Verizon. Last edited by Seihaku; 03-18-2013 at 06:27 AM.. |

10 days isn't bad, Cowboom is definitely a few steps ahead of 1SaleADay.
It's going to be harder for Google to justify a non-LTE phone next time around. Oh wait the N4 has an LTE chip, bastards. Last edited by Seihaku; 03-18-2013 at 06:30 AM.. Reason: Automerged Doublepost |

Yup and look at how Apple's strategy works for them.. People upgrade their Iphone's just to have a new Iphone.. the added features aren't really ground breaking to justify the upgrade price.. especially when some of those people still are under contract.. Yet they are more than happy to wait in line for hours, and pay hundreds just for a new Iphone. I am sure Samsung is hoping the Galaxy eventually becomes that popular, unfortunately people that own Androids might know a bit better.. of course maybe not. With all the ROMS and options out there for the droids its hard to justify software upgrades when people are adding those things in ROMS, but the hardware gets in the way. I would wait for the S4 to come out and buy a S3, prices will drop and why get one that can only do 3G when you will probably be able to get a new 4G one for less than this in the coming months. |

It always amazes me that the last couple generations of phones make such a big deal out of being thinner thinner thinner while dimensions get bigger and bigger due to increased screen size. The screen size is one thing which I don't disagree with although approaching 5+ is getting a little excessive for a phone. Sure OS and hardware has gotten better with power useage too. I DON'T get why they are all hell bent on making each new phone a few mm thinner when they still struggle to make it through a full day of modest to moderate use. You would think they would leave the thickness alone for awhile to couple a bigger battery with the improved power efficiency until they can easily make it through an entire real world (as in less then optimal conditions such as lower signal strength which requires more power etc) day of moderate use. A phone with a bigger by design battery that hasn't shrunk the phone in overall thickness would sure be better then often lumpy adapted 3rd party bigger batteries. That is my #1 annoyance with newer smartphones.
