Yep, it has an LTE chip with limited support that was killed completely with 4.2.2, but the hardware is still in there since it's included with that particular variation of Snapdragon, it's missing a couple other key components though.
Apparently it used to work in Canada. |

Depends on your definition of moderate usage I guess. I have been able to get a days usage from moderate usage from my Verizon S3. By moderate usage, i mean 2ish hours screen on time and no or minimal pandora type streaming.
On days when I go 4 plus hours screen on time and lots of streaming, which i would consider heavy usage, then yeah, you won't be getting a full days usage there. If that is something you are after, then consider the razr maxx hd, which has the similar chip as the S3 but has a 3300mah battery. I would be interested to see the sales numbers though, Verizon S3 vs Verizon Maxx HD. Wonder which phone is selling better...

Alas, the HTC One isn't on Verizon, I'm sure it'll eventually come out as the Droid somethingorother but this deal is kind of useless for ya. Last edited by Seihaku; 03-18-2013 at 07:18 AM.. |

Verizon definitely struck out with the Galaxy Nexus with battery life but the S3 is a killer phone at this price. I love this thing. Agree that the S4 is an iterative upgrade over the S3, so if you are like me and want to buy off contract to keep data, this phone has great hardware and great development support to be around for a while. |

This is a great deal. The S3 is fantastic and if you arent looking to sign a contract to get the S4, then this is your best bet. Also if size isnt a concern, the Zerolemon 7000 mah extended battery for about 30 bucks on amazon is phenomenal if battery is something you are worried about. My phone lasts just under two days with full screen brightness and heavy use with this battery.

According to All Things D, VZW will be getting The One [allthingsd.com]eventually. Although I am overall happy with my HTC Thunderbolt, I won't buy it due to the lack of a micro SD, integrated battery, and poor support record (i.e. taking over a year to deliver ICS for the Tbolt).
I'm in a tough spot, I hate to spend $300 for a 9 month old smartphone whose successor is just around the corner, but at the same time I don't want to lose my unlimited data. Right now I'm only averaging about 1.5 GB/mo, but I can only expect that to go up in the future (plus my wife now hits 1 GB consistently on her iPhone). Current game queue: Batman: Arkham City, Gears of War 3, Zelda: Skyward Sword...

I can't lose unlimited either... the only way $300 will buy a better Verizon phone in the near future is if the next Nexus makes it there. Then again Verizon might kill all unlimited accounts anyway.. then I'd be pissed to have spent the money instead of just upgrading like normal. |

On a side note, rooting the Tbolt is dead simple. Just spend a day or two in the Thunderbolt forum at xda-developers and you'll be fine. |
