Noob question: I was planning to buy the ASRock 970 EXTREME4 AM3+. I have Kingston HyperX Blu DDR3 SDRAM 1333MHz 240-pin already, can I max-n-match ram?

Mixing and matching can often lead to system instability unfortunately. It's best to use just one line of ram in a single system. Sometimes it works of course, but there's a decent chance you'll get some weird things happening when mixing brands.

That's what has always kept me away from these deals on Newegg. It seems kind of silly to go back to single channel, even though this is a pretty good deal.

It is a good deal for people who build like me. But yes, I need sets. If anyone wants to sell the stick of ram, pm me a fair price.

Does anyone know if the Biostar with the AMD E-350D is powerful enough to record from the Hauppauge DCR-2650 cablecard? There may be occasional TV watching on the box, but mainly it will be for recording HD before transferring it to a server.

I tried it on an old single core Athlon I had lying around with 2 gigs of RAM and it stuttered on HD.

I believe the 350 processors are made mostly for video work. Should work just fine.

cannot find any cheaper AM3+ mobo less than $80 with free 8gb.
cheaper am3+ mobo $40 ~60 with no free RAM
