Free EA game with Simcity 5 purchase

That's almost like saying it doesn't have problems.
Follow my previous comments in this thread and other threads. I said I enjoy the game and I think it looks good (for the most part), but you can't really ignore the TONS of problems it still has nor can you claim that the problems of the first week are gone, because we're 2 weeks after and some major features (like cheetah speed) still don't work.



EDIT: BTW I'm still holding off on posting a review on Amazon, just to give the company a fair amount of time to fix the major bugs. The traffic fix is a big step in the right direction in my opinion. It just bothers me that people claim that there are no problems with the game and that people whine because of first week server problems. There are a lot more problems than just server problems and only now that we can actually play the game we can spot them.

I know there are problems and I never accused you of being disingenuous, but he never said it didn't have any problems, never even hinted towards it. He just said he likes the game and even admitted it had server problems, but that is no reason to attack his opinion and try to invalidate it with nonsense.

I feel this argument is becoming pointless and more about semantics than about opinions. And since my primary language is not English, I find it useless to argue about semantics. Maybe I just don't get it, but that's the vibe I got from what he was saying. Take it or leave it.


Now let's all hope that EA fixes those bugs and we can have our (tiny) cities side by side, working together on a great work or something and sharing resources.

Trust me I agree with a lot of your points, just saying we should all be allowed our opinions without being accused of having alternative motives. There are enough haters out there with a specific agenda that never even played Simcity and attack it and anyone who defends it.

Honestly though, Maxis has to push the game on the community and allow freedom to mod, if they do that the game will have the potential to be really great.

Agreed, but we both know that's not going to happen because mods usually mean there's no need for DLCs, which is how EA likes to make money.
On the other hand, maybe the new CEO will make some changes to this agenda.

For those of us that already own the game or are buying it for the free game can we start a discussion about which free game is the best to opt for? I already own BF3 so that's not on my list, All of the others are in play except plants vs zombies and bejeweled just because... so of the remaining games what are we thinking? I don't really like 3rd person shooters so I'm leaning towards MOH:W or NFS, any thoughts?

Alright, please stop the arguing and just discuss the merits of the deal.

Depends, they could allow community to make mods and then sell them as DLC packages with developers getting a share. Done with other games, but it is more complicated that way.

I am legitimately struggling to think of the last EA published game that offered serious modding potential. Not like Steam Workshop level, but maybe even some modding tools, or something. So I think buying Simcity now on the hopes that modders can fix some of its issues or add serious amounts of content is pretty iffy.

Which is a bummer cause I think the end result would be more money in their pocket as mods tend to increase sales over the long term. "Oh hey, did you hear about X mod for SimCity?" And someone goes out and buys SimCity.

The Battlefield series has had a long history of mods. Even though EA owned Dice, they have always provided mod tools to the community. BF3 has been the exception so far, but that might change in the future when the game becomes less popular.

So 1943 or BC2? That is shameful of EA, no serious moddable game in like 2 or 3 years? Maybe the new CEO will bring a glimmer of intelligence and hope to PC gamers.

Well that is just the one to me that sticks out the most. I am sure there are many other games, like Sims 3, Command and Conquer, and Crysis all have large modding communities. I am sure there are more as well. Usually though it is the developers who decide whether or not to cater to the modding community. Lately though, no matter the developer or publisher, companies are been moving away from modding allowance and more towards microtransactions.

If it be stupid to choose Need for Speed Most Wanted ?? Is it the good game?
