I see ebay sells ram for this particular laptop, can someone confirm that the RAM is NOT upgradable?
3-3.5hr of battery life is horrible, but for this thinness, i guess it's OK. oh yeah...

Bought this.
Replacing clunky old desktop with this. Will only use for managing business expenses (QuickBooks), email, ms office, and web browsing. Love knowing this sleek little booger will be the only thing occupying our desk. Don't care about trackpad. Will add a wireless mouse. Thanks op! |

The touchpad, battery life, and keyboard are horrible.

is it just me, or is the ultrabook category just staying in the same range...
my theory is that intel has realized that their processors have finally reached the point where for the average user - internet browsing/ video/ word (80 percent of people) the entire i series is fast enough. so poor intel will have a decreased market share unless they can change up the game. - so they came up with ultrabook category, and have been keeping prices steadily above 600 dollars - they NEVER GET CHEAPER.... i mean comon.... seriosly even a VIZIO is FP at 600 dollars while about 2 years ago before the whole ultrabook craze i bought a toshiba portege for 500 dollars (with a first gen i5) but now, i havnt seen an ultrabook on fp for under 550 in over a year... prices arnt getting cheaper - not cool - i do not need a third generation i5 - nor do 80 percent of people! 1] RAM is soldered on mine. I've seen one A1 model where the RAM was replaceable and some people claim they've upgraded the RAM. I wouldn't count on being able to do it though. 2] Battery can be replaced if you could find one. 3] SSD can be replaced [it's about the size of a large postage stamp] if you could find one. If you get one with the Samsung SSD you've got one of the better SSD's out there in a laptop. 4] Screen is pretty nice. 5] Really miss pg up and pg dn keys....somewhat mitigated by fn+up arrow and fn+down functionality. Echoing what everyone else had said - Trackpad sucks but is somewhat better with newer drivers. The A5 model apparently changed to a Synaptics pad...or so I've read. Keyboard you can get used to but I really miss the keyboard back light on my XPS. I code and do some IT work and the 4GB size is somewhat mitigated by the SSD. I also use a laptop mouse instead of the track pad and when I have a lot of typing I use a different keyboard. IMHO the price is right if you're the kind of person who doesn't get anal over things. It's not for everyone though. People who see the laptop really like it. These laptops are going to be blowouts in prep for the new Vizio models. Supposedly new models add the Synaptics trackpad, better keyboard, better battery life and touch screen. Take care! Last edited by zontor; 03-18-2013 at 12:05 PM.. Reason: a word |
