It's looking like a visit to San Diego for me!

Never been there...never heard of it before actually.

Did say that you are planning o n bheading north to the OC or LA area? If the SD fair will be going on and you plan on taking the 5, pack your patience because you will b e in the car for minimally a couple hours.

Take the coaster up to north county and take your daughter to Ruby's on the pier in Oceanside. Food is nothing to write home about, but it is the longest wooden pier on the west coast and the views of the coast and surfers are awesome. I used to take my kidlet there when she had half days at school, mostly around report card time. She loved it every single time.

Go to Bel Fluer in Carlsbad for their Sunday brunch. The awesomest champagne brunch in North county. Plus your wife can shop since it is at the premium outlet mall. You'll thank me for that one later.

I think North County beaches are awesome! My aunt and uncle are in Carlsbad, it has a cute little seaside village thing going on

Thanks for the suggestions! Since we have friends in LA and OC, we'll probably meet up with them somewhere in OC. Thanks for reminding me to check the fair - yeah, it's going on while we'll be in town. We'll probably only be there for one meal. Rest of the time will probably be spent right in San Diego...we'll only have parts of four days, with likely the one spent in OC.


Also...it's annoying to have to type "San Diego" instead of "SD." But otherwise some wise-ass (me?) will say something about me going to Slickdeals.
