What exactly is a real setup?

On the other hand, is the 5.0 system never gonna go on sale again? Seems like forever since I've seen it advertised.

Audio is a funny thing. People are willing to spend a ton for a good TV because they can see the difference immediately, but everyone hopes for a miracle with cheap speakers.

I've not heard these, but I've heard so many cheap speakers before. I finally just got rid of my Vizio soundbar and hooked up my M-Audio studio monitors to my TV, which work great for my small room.

I bought these speakers a while back and they are great speakers, regardless of price. Just make sure you have a decent receiver and these speakers will blow you away. I would however, get the 5.0 set and drop the woofer. I ended up buying a Polk 12" woofer instead which is much better than this woofer. Couldnt be happier with my set. Look for the 5.0 set for under $200 (I got mine at Sears for $140 at the time and I paid $200 for the woofer). BTW - my room is huge which opens up into the kitchen. Power has never been an issue.

a real setup is debatable but these speakers just do not fill a room too well if you like volume. ya they sound good a low volumes and they are good for the price but i just cant imagine having them again. I had them for a few months and wish i didnt spend the money on them.

You said it right. spend a ton on the TV and buy crap speakers. My audio system is on the low end but it still costs more then my TV. i can tell u that i would prefer a smaller tv w/o all the features if i can have full calibrated surround sound. If you cant hear a movie correctly your missing out on half the movie.

Got this set 14mo ago minus the sub for $130 at newegg. Was pretty steadily sold at $150 with the occasional $20off promo code before it was discontinued and Klipsch slaped their name on the micro set and which cause all the retailers to say "Hey, maybe we can get more for these if Klipsch likes them enough to put their name on them." Can't speak for the 8" Energy sub but I'd personally try to get the set without and then go 10-12" for a little extra $ as a 8" sub isn't usually worth $150-$200. Love the speakers, and the Polk PSW505 i paired with them for $190.

Yip thats what I keep saying. 5.0 for $140 what I paid at the time is a complete steal. The speakers are fantastic and the price, well thats just cake. If I had to do it again, I would probably get the same speakers but get a better sub than the Polk 12", maybe the BIC America F12. The Polk is ok, but not fantastic.

These are great speakers. I also just got the 5.0 system with a different sub and have been very happy with them in my living room. When calibrated properly, with a good receiver and sub, they are wonderful.

I'm always wanting to upgrade to the newest, best product, but I can't justify replacing these speakers until they stop working.

Any suggestion about in Ceiling speakers and which color is preferred white or some like black also. I want white but my other speakers and TV are black including the receiver. White is not visible as surround sound in ceiling.

I have a set of Audioengine A5s with Energy S10.3 in a 12x12 room.

It's almost too much power, unfortunately, but not sure I want to go "down" to this.

So what kind of receivers are you using with these? Or whic receivers perform well with these?

This speaker set is fine for many people's needs. No, they are not going to blow you away like a setup with big floor standers would, but the idea is to get good sound from a small form factor that passes the wife test, which this set does very well.

The stock sub with this classic set is good for most. I know a lot of people suggest to just get the 5.0 and upgrade the sub. However, most likely you'll be paying a bit more if you buy them separately, the sub itself will most likely be bigger (space concerns) and, for most casual listeners, not much of a difference. The stock sub was designed with these speakers in mind so they complement each other well. If you get a bigger sub with more "oomph", you may be over doing it. If you need a "bigger" sound, it would be preferable just to get a different set altogether rather than trying to get that big sound from a bigger sub alone. This speaker set that had great audio reviews which eventually made them popular were tested/listened with the stock sub, not a different one. But to each his/her own!

I was looming at these to replace my theater setup that I am going to move to a dedicated theater room. I wonder if these will be a decent replacement for occasional ambiance music and movies listened to at close to reference levels? I was going to forego the sub and use my current Velodyne 12 and use my receiver to maybe cut some more lows out of the satellites so I might be able to get some more volume...

I have Bostan Acoustics MCS100 5.1 system in my family room and paired with Onkyo 509 and sounds great. Are these speakers worth buying and replace what I have?? Appreciate your suggestion.
