I don't get why people buy these 5.1 sets, with the 5 speakers all the same, and mediocre subs. Why do you want/need the rear speakers the same as the front? And has any of these sets EVER had a really good sub in them (which gets only more important when you are talking smaller speakers)? Granted I bought the Energy Micro 5.0 set myself, but I didn't actually use it that way. I didn't use the center at all, I used the 4 satellites as two pairs of rear speakers on two 5.1 sets I assemble by buy 4 V.Mini speakers, as I could find them for < $100 each, and two V.mini center channels ($120 each was best I could do there), and two subs bought as standalone. Those micros are perfect for rears in surround sound, I actually prefer them for aesthetic reasons to more V.minis, or the takes in this deal.

As I said, I used to own the 5.0 setup. I paired them with a Mirage Prestige S10 sub (great little sub) and thought they were decent. If you need small speakers, these are nice. Otherwise, I'd wait for the next Pioneer Andrew Jones speaker sale from Newegg and get something with a little more "umph" for the money. For people looking to buy this set, I'd like to echo what others are saying regarding the sub. You could wait for the next $130 sale at Newegg for the 5.0 set and spend a few bucks more for a much better sub. I completely understand if space limitations are a concern. But if you want quality audio, spending a few bucks more on a separate sub can do wonders for the low end frequencies. Also, if space isn't a concern and you're fine with bookshelf speakers....do it. The best move I've made in my home audio setup was transitioning from a all-in-one satellite system to bookshelf speakers and a "real" sub. Last edited by nmr1723; 03-19-2013 at 08:17 AM.. |

I bought the Take 5.0 system at $250 and have been more than pleased. I paired it with Denon 1612 and Bic F12. I dont know how loud yall like to listen to movies but the speakers paired with the sub is more than loud enough for anyone 8-15 feet away. I guess if you are 30 feet away from the TV and speakers then yes, these might not put out enough sound. At resonable TV viewing distances these speakers do a great job. I cant speak for the sub though

i got these speakers and 2 extra (had to buy another 5.0 set and sell the rest) for a 7.1 system. Properly calibrated with Audyssey MultEQ XT and a BIC Acoustech PL-200, they are fantastic in a medium sized room
Get a good receiver with a calibration device and you are good to go |

I feel that for the price you might as well go with the Jamo 426 Package and get a nice Sub to add on.

I have these. No complaints, other than the price of course. Last edited by AdamC6372; 03-19-2013 at 11:05 AM.. |
