Been looking to upgrade my HT setup. Just pulled the trigger on the amp that was on sale yesterday (Yamaha 573 for $299). I was waiting for the Monoprice speakers to come back available, but I may just pull the trigger on these.

Anyone heard these vs the Monoprice?

Edit: Probably pretty much the same price (after shipping) for these vs the Monoprice and the Monoprice has a 5 yr warranty vs 1 yr.

Considering I'll be using Amazon Gift cards bought with my Chase Freedom (5% off)....Looking more and more like I'll be pulling the trigger on this set.

Anybody have any feedback on my thinking?

They are not exactly the same, but almost identical. There is a cnet review on these. I would say it is hard to believe that they are not a rebrand work.

I have Bostan Acoustics MCS100 5.1 system in my family room and paired with Onkyo 509 and sounds great. Are these speakers worth buying and replace what I have?? Appreciate your suggestion.

This looks like more of a lateral move in my opinion. I've had the take 5s before, and while they are decent little speakers, they probably won't be much better than your BA system. The satellites frequency range are very similar. The Energy system has a better sub, but it's not fantastic by any means. If you're looking to upgrade your setup, I would get a better sub first and then transition to bookshelf speakers across the front stage. You can use 2 of the BA satellites for surround. If size is a concern, then I would stay with the BA speakers and go with a better sub.

As I said, I used to own the 5.0 setup. I paired them with a Mirage Prestige S10 sub (great little sub) and thought they were decent. If you need small speakers, these are nice. Otherwise, I'd wait for the next Pioneer Andrew Jones speaker sale from Newegg and get something with a little more "umph" for the money.

For people looking to buy this set, I'd like to echo what others are saying regarding the sub. You could wait for the next $130 sale at Newegg for the 5.0 set and spend a few bucks more for a much better sub. I completely understand if space limitations are a concern. But if you want quality audio, spending a few bucks more on a separate sub can do wonders for the low end frequencies.

Also, if space isn't a concern and you're fine with bookshelf speakers....do it. The best move I've made in my home audio setup was transitioning from a all-in-one satellite system to bookshelf speakers and a "real" sub.

The quality of these are really good. Don't let their size fool you. I upgraded these to the SD favorite Polk CS2, RTI8 and they are marginally better. Even the wife didn't notice. I wished I saved my money and kept the Energy speakers.

For those who already owned this system, what kind of wall mounts you'd suggest for these speakers? Thank you.

Buy the 5.0 set and pair it with a bic f12 for a nice budget system

I don't know why everyone likes these so much. They have clean sound but are just too small even for a bedroom. Mine have been in the box since a couple of weeks after buying them. The only thing I use is the sub. I wish I hadn't listened to reviews and wasted my money on them.
