Deal Details

urlhasbeenblocked is now offering a 2GB VPS for $40 per year, this time with 2 IPv4 addresses and now offer an additional location option (Atlanta)

UPDATE: The wiki went bye-bye, don't know why. Look at post 5 for most of what was in there.

UPDATE: I just found a code that seems to give you almost the same deal at $30, 2GBYR
More info from Kevin:
to clarify about the $30/yr deal. It is valid for the "Enterprise" plan listed here: http://urlhasbeenblocked.net/openvz.html. It only includes 1x IP, and is only valid for our Chicago, Buffalo, and LA location (Not Atlanta). The $40/yr STEALOFADEAL offer is separate order links like I gave you earlier, and includes 2 IP addresses. It is also available in our new location Atlanta.

This is not technically a repost, because the other thread about this particular deal got deleted. The STEALOFADEAL offer actually costs $10 more than the previous deals, and it comes with 2 IP addresses.

2048MB (2GB) Dedicated Ram
50 GB Diskspace
2TB Monthly Bandwidth
100Mbps Port
2x IPv4 Address with STEALOFADEAL
1x IPv4 Address with 2GBYR code, but $10 less, but no Atlanta
SolusVM/OpenVZ
Instant Setup (most of the time)
Free Backups
3 or 4 Location Choices: Los Angeles, Chicago, Buffalo, (Atlanta on the $40 code)

$40/year with promo code "STEALOFADEAL" & 2 IP addresses
Order in Chicago, IL - https://billing.chicagovps.net/ca...dd&pid=160
Order in Buffalo, NY - https://billing.chicagovps.net/ca...dd&pid=161
Order in Los Angeles, CA - https://billing.chicagovps.net/ca...dd&pid=162
Order in Atlanta, GA - https://billing.chicagovps.net/ca...dd&pid=163

$30/yr deal. with 1 IP address and no Atlanta
http://urlhasbeenblocked.net/openvz.html - Choose Enterprise, 1 year recurring

The promo code to use is STEALOFADEAL or 2GBYR- over $200+ in savings Just be sure to select the 12 month billing cycle when ordering then on the next page you will find the option to enter in the promo code. This price doesn't go up after the year is up either.

When signing up, use an easy password, and change it later. Some folks had trouble with complicated password during signup.

Disclaimer: I don't work for, nor am I anyway associated with urlhasbeenblocked. I have one VPS with this company, and I paid $40 for it. They aren't giving me anything. Yes, I know they should, but they haven't. shake head

What is this, you may ask? It is an online Linux computer that you have root access to, and can install and run practically anything. Read the TOS, 'cause that doesn't include P2P sharing, folding, bit coin mining, seti stuff, and anything else stupid like that, that might kill the performance for everyone else.

Anyways, like I said, you get root access to a Linux box, and when you screw that up, no problem, they give you a control panel that lets you reinstall a new OS in minutes. Pretty cool. With a small effort, you can even vnc into it with a full GUI.

Don't expect the world from this, you get more than you pay for. Think twice before you bet your business on this, although I think there are people that do.

I believe you need to put in a ticket to make that option availible.
Quote from phonic View Post :
For me, it's inside the VPS Control Panel, in the bottom 'Controls' section, and the 'General' tab.

I never requested it, nor put in a support ticket to get it, so I don't believe that is required. I never even noticed it (nor looked) until you asked if it was possible.
Thanks for your help! =)

By default, didn't have the "Central Backup" option, but emailed support about where to find it and they enabled the link.

Np. That's weird. I wonder why it was already enabled for me. Maybe it depends on the host/DC your assigned to.

Anyone had issues where Google sees your urlhasbeenblocked as being 'international' instead of a US ip? A buddy at google said for my 2 different urlhasbeenblocked ip blocks (one in Chicago, one in Atlanta) both are seen by google as being Indonesian. Its messed with our ability to do research of how we rank on google in US markets...

I get this:

Host host.colocrossing.com
Location US, United States
City -, - -
Organization End of Reality CHI
ISP ColoCrossing
AS Number AS36352 ColoCrossing

But Google sees me as from .IN

My buddy who works at goog confirmed using their geo-ip database. We use apache's geo ip rules and it was treated as non-american until we updated our database. Apparently there is a 30x factor used by google on the ASN and its coming up as Surabaya, Indonesia.

Here -- go to this site, and see what it spits back. Probably uses the same google logic on their app engine:

http://mylocationtest.appspot.com/

For my ATL box, i get:

Country : ID

Region : jk

City: djakarta

Only 3 providers I know have been exploited. urlhasbeenblocked being one. Their entire client database was leaked, again, the first time being in November of last year and made public a few months ago. So now, all your data (name, email, IPs, root details to server and passwords) are floating around. Surprised urlhasbeenblocked hasn't released a statement to their clients yet about this!

http://vpsboard.com/topic/758-chi...m-exploit/
http://lowendtalk.com/discussion/...ps-hacked/

Read those for more information on VPS Industry specific forums to learn more.

Though after the last hack back in November they did add backup servers so hoepfully everyone's data that is lost has been backed up and restored. But the fact that they've known their database has been stolen again for many many hours now and haven't warned their clients is very worrying.

CHANGE YOUR PASSWORDS IMMEDIATELY. ROOT PASSWORDS, AND ALL PASSWORDS THAT YOU USE THAT ARE THE SAME!

Looks like my VPS (in ATL) is currently down. Not sure for how long.

From their website:

Hello Everyone,

Around 3am Eastern Standat Time (EST) today, there was a security breach, due to a vulnerability in SolusVM that allowed a command line to be run to dump the urlhasbeenblocked SolusVM client database and attempt to delete all data from our nodes. Our staff is working tirelessly to get everything back online, along working with SolusVM to address the root issue and no furthur impact is expected.
Now what does this mean for the customer? All passwords should be changed, this includes passwords for SolusVM control panel and your VPS. This data leak does not include billing information or credit card information. Thus far we are having great success in getting nodes back online with no data loss, however, there are a few that were not recoverable and will be restored using our offsite backups.
Once the situation is 100% complete and back to normal we will send another email out. We understand the sevarity and importance to get everything back online quickly. With that in mind, please try to refrain from opening a ticket or replying to an old one as it only slows us down even more. We are doing our best, and hope to have this fully resolved within 24 hours.
Thank you for your patience and understanding.

That would imply they actually sent an email out in the first place. Which they didn't. Gotta love how they try and hide the fact that they got compromised.

Where are all the CVPS people now? Why don't you guys man up and take some responsibility.

Where is it?

I did finally get an email from them. Haven't read it yet, but it looks the same as their other post.
