Deal Details

urlhasbeenblocked is now offering a 2GB VPS for $40 per year, this time with 2 IPv4 addresses and now offer an additional location option (Atlanta)

UPDATE: The wiki went bye-bye, don't know why. Look at post 5 for most of what was in there.

UPDATE: I just found a code that seems to give you almost the same deal at $30, 2GBYR
More info from Kevin:
to clarify about the $30/yr deal. It is valid for the "Enterprise" plan listed here: http://urlhasbeenblocked.net/openvz.html. It only includes 1x IP, and is only valid for our Chicago, Buffalo, and LA location (Not Atlanta). The $40/yr STEALOFADEAL offer is separate order links like I gave you earlier, and includes 2 IP addresses. It is also available in our new location Atlanta.

This is not technically a repost, because the other thread about this particular deal got deleted. The STEALOFADEAL offer actually costs $10 more than the previous deals, and it comes with 2 IP addresses.

2048MB (2GB) Dedicated Ram
50 GB Diskspace
2TB Monthly Bandwidth
100Mbps Port
2x IPv4 Address with STEALOFADEAL
1x IPv4 Address with 2GBYR code, but $10 less, but no Atlanta
SolusVM/OpenVZ
Instant Setup (most of the time)
Free Backups
3 or 4 Location Choices: Los Angeles, Chicago, Buffalo, (Atlanta on the $40 code)

$40/year with promo code "STEALOFADEAL" & 2 IP addresses
Order in Chicago, IL - https://billing.chicagovps.net/ca...dd&pid=160
Order in Buffalo, NY - https://billing.chicagovps.net/ca...dd&pid=161
Order in Los Angeles, CA - https://billing.chicagovps.net/ca...dd&pid=162
Order in Atlanta, GA - https://billing.chicagovps.net/ca...dd&pid=163

$30/yr deal. with 1 IP address and no Atlanta
http://urlhasbeenblocked.net/openvz.html - Choose Enterprise, 1 year recurring

The promo code to use is STEALOFADEAL or 2GBYR- over $200+ in savings Just be sure to select the 12 month billing cycle when ordering then on the next page you will find the option to enter in the promo code. This price doesn't go up after the year is up either.

When signing up, use an easy password, and change it later. Some folks had trouble with complicated password during signup.

Disclaimer: I don't work for, nor am I anyway associated with urlhasbeenblocked. I have one VPS with this company, and I paid $40 for it. They aren't giving me anything. Yes, I know they should, but they haven't. shake head

What is this, you may ask? It is an online Linux computer that you have root access to, and can install and run practically anything. Read the TOS, 'cause that doesn't include P2P sharing, folding, bit coin mining, seti stuff, and anything else stupid like that, that might kill the performance for everyone else.

Anyways, like I said, you get root access to a Linux box, and when you screw that up, no problem, they give you a control panel that lets you reinstall a new OS in minutes. Pretty cool. With a small effort, you can even vnc into it with a full GUI.

Don't expect the world from this, you get more than you pay for. Think twice before you bet your business on this, although I think there are people that do.

Choose Enterprise edition
Select 1 year recurring billing (total will be around $230)
apply promo code (the total will drop to $30)
Exactly what I was looking for. Thanks!
Bit the bullet and purchased, $30 a year... not too shabby.

Now, to bring this puppy online. Seems like a bit prepping to do:
- Set sudoers
- Compile Python 2.7.3
- Compile MySQL
- Compile Nginx
- VirtualEnv this thing out the arse
- Deploy Django and Flask
- Migrate blog site and create new ones

It's like a blank canvas. woot

Their customer service responded very quickly. Could be related to my current location. I will verify in a few hours. They did request I edit this post.. Meaning our information is being shared. I think I am done with SD they can take their ....
You made a post on one of the busiest sites on the Internet, and then complain that the info is shared???!

What do you think, SD mods are a bunch of spys that report any negative posts to the seller?

My understanding is that the $30 coupon code gets you 1 ip address - $40 gets you 2

Well slickdeals has changed a lot over the years. Some would say for the worse. Others for the better I am not going to get into that debate. However, I will say some of the old schoolers are not happy with the new trends. One of which is a total loss of privacy in many ways not just the obvious ones.

As I stated earlier I will verify my site when I am in another location. Until then I do not know if it is up or down. Either way I will post back.

I forget, did anyone on the other thread ever give a solid reason that you would need 2 IPs? I remember there was concern about SSL sites each needing their own IP, but others contradicted that. I'm wondering why spend $10 more if you don't need it? Any commnents on why it's a good idea to spend an extra $10 for an IP?

Most of those posts were probably related to security settings etc for ssl and other options. It is true that tcp port 443 can only connect on that port to one ip. However, there are ways to make things work even with that limitation. As with any setup it depends.. what you are trying to do, what your requirements are etc. For myself two IP addresses were helpful for testing.

Ok so I fired up a hotspot and connected outside my our corp FW. My site is fine and has been the whole time. Corp fw was blocking ports.

Kevin at customer support assisted me and provided me with a monitoring checker that I can use in the future. As I said in my origional post that helps. It allows me to see if it is my connection or the server connection. This product has been great from the get go and now that I have experienced an issue I am even more likely to recommend this service. Go VPS.

This is my first of this sort and I am a Linux noob. howtooforge is my friend. Smilie

Interesting. Chicago goes up to vps 63 which I assume are nodes? What's the standard # of users on a given node?

No one knows, that's proprietary information and (likely) will never be shared.
