Deal Details

urlhasbeenblocked is now offering a 2GB VPS for $40 per year, this time with 2 IPv4 addresses and now offer an additional location option (Atlanta)

UPDATE: The wiki went bye-bye, don't know why. Look at post 5 for most of what was in there.

UPDATE: I just found a code that seems to give you almost the same deal at $30, 2GBYR
More info from Kevin:
to clarify about the $30/yr deal. It is valid for the "Enterprise" plan listed here: http://urlhasbeenblocked.net/openvz.html. It only includes 1x IP, and is only valid for our Chicago, Buffalo, and LA location (Not Atlanta). The $40/yr STEALOFADEAL offer is separate order links like I gave you earlier, and includes 2 IP addresses. It is also available in our new location Atlanta.

This is not technically a repost, because the other thread about this particular deal got deleted. The STEALOFADEAL offer actually costs $10 more than the previous deals, and it comes with 2 IP addresses.

2048MB (2GB) Dedicated Ram
50 GB Diskspace
2TB Monthly Bandwidth
100Mbps Port
2x IPv4 Address with STEALOFADEAL
1x IPv4 Address with 2GBYR code, but $10 less, but no Atlanta
SolusVM/OpenVZ
Instant Setup (most of the time)
Free Backups
3 or 4 Location Choices: Los Angeles, Chicago, Buffalo, (Atlanta on the $40 code)

$40/year with promo code "STEALOFADEAL" & 2 IP addresses
Order in Chicago, IL - https://billing.chicagovps.net/ca...dd&pid=160
Order in Buffalo, NY - https://billing.chicagovps.net/ca...dd&pid=161
Order in Los Angeles, CA - https://billing.chicagovps.net/ca...dd&pid=162
Order in Atlanta, GA - https://billing.chicagovps.net/ca...dd&pid=163

$30/yr deal. with 1 IP address and no Atlanta
http://urlhasbeenblocked.net/openvz.html - Choose Enterprise, 1 year recurring

The promo code to use is STEALOFADEAL or 2GBYR- over $200+ in savings Just be sure to select the 12 month billing cycle when ordering then on the next page you will find the option to enter in the promo code. This price doesn't go up after the year is up either.

When signing up, use an easy password, and change it later. Some folks had trouble with complicated password during signup.

Disclaimer: I don't work for, nor am I anyway associated with urlhasbeenblocked. I have one VPS with this company, and I paid $40 for it. They aren't giving me anything. Yes, I know they should, but they haven't. shake head

What is this, you may ask? It is an online Linux computer that you have root access to, and can install and run practically anything. Read the TOS, 'cause that doesn't include P2P sharing, folding, bit coin mining, seti stuff, and anything else stupid like that, that might kill the performance for everyone else.

Anyways, like I said, you get root access to a Linux box, and when you screw that up, no problem, they give you a control panel that lets you reinstall a new OS in minutes. Pretty cool. With a small effort, you can even vnc into it with a full GUI.

Don't expect the world from this, you get more than you pay for. Think twice before you bet your business on this, although I think there are people that do.

Sounds like you're kind of wasting your breath with flawed logic.
Using a private IP pool is a bad example for RDNS.

You also don't have an indication of which end will be the same server, or if you're just banging on the door of someone else's. The ones on my VPS are non sequential.
My private IP example was simply that - just an example. Obviously the IPs would be public. But instead of saying "216.73.28.189 and 216.73.28.190" I figured I would use something more simple. If you ever read any technical books, documents, guides, etc., they all use RFC1918 IPs in the examples since using a public one wouldn't be proper etiquette or necessary. I figured that was self-explanatory in my post, but I guess it went over your head.

However, it was my understanding (based on my own experience and other posters comments) that the IPs allocated for each VPS were sequential. But based on your comment and clicq's, that doesn't seem to be a de facto standard. So if your IPs are not sequential, then my earlier comment wouldn't apply.

But, with that said, most of the time (in my experiences), when you get multiple IPs from a provider, they are in fact sequential. So relying on one of the block to hide your identity is not a wise decision if the others would identify you. Additionally, there are tools that can use fingerprinting to identify the OS of a host on an IP in addition to other information - including system uptime. So even if your IPs are not sequential, if someone was determined they could initiate a scan of a range of IPs looking for another IP that mirrors the fingerprint of the host they know is yours.

Considering you ran out of IPs at one of your locations, why not offer to roll back to the $30 single IP plan?
We're offering both promotions - its ultimately up to the customer to choose which plan they'd like to go with. Its also important to clarify that we are not out of IPs in any of our locations at the moment. Earlier this week we were out only in Chicago for less than a day, but we have received a new large allocation promptly so all locations are good to go and instant setup.

Thanks,

Kevin

I don't think mine went down at all so I must've been lucky. But yeah, if you're still having problems, first check your VPS to make sure your loads are normal, then open a ticket.

Same issue in LA. My network was perfect when I had a test VPN up for slickdeals members to check out but ever since I took it down I had over 3 hours of downtime... Will ask to be moved soon or I'll ask for a refund.

Edit - appears to be from low memory... My vps is only using 400mb consistently...

Well my was working fine, until the maint last night, when connectivity to it went up/down multiple times. Since this was an access switch replacement I can understand that, then today, load times on pages are slow, and some times would freeze and not load, being a network engineer I seen this before from duplex mismatch on upstream devices. But then again could be my VPS (dont really believe in coincidence) the mem/cpu/disk seems just like yesterday so dont think it my VPS.

Then open a ticket. I've seen that happen before too. Though I'm not a network engineer, I know things could be done improperly on the network end that can cause issues. Worth looking into if you're pretty positive it isn't caused by you.

My ATL VPS has been running smoothly for over a week:
root@vps1:/etc/bind# uptime
13:44:26 up 11 days, 12:21, 1 user, load average: 0.00, 0.00, 0.00

Granted, again, I don't do much on it.

I am seriously very skeptical of their service now. I am on VPS11 of their LA location. I experience pretty often downtime. And my server is currently down for two hours....
