I just added triple to my acct and it starts in a couple of days and I was able to get the free bump from 15/5 to 50/25. It took me probably a total of 2 hours on the phone calling back to get better deals because of their current online 89.99 w 250 gc deal expiring tomorrow. Kept saying that I think i can get a better deal online and that I need to cancel my current pending order.
called about 4 different reps and all did different promotions for me. last rep bumped my fios up for "free" charge of $10 with $10 credit for the whole 2 years
You had a internet only and where able to add a current bundle promotion w/o having to cancel your account and open under a new name?
Here's my "deal" that I was able to negotiate with. I'm in NoVA.
I just got off the phone with Verizon "Retention" dept. (or what they call their "Elite Team" which handles retentions) to see what kind of deal I can negotiate, which apparently their online chat isn't capable or authorized to do (make deals). In fact, the online chat actually suggested that I call them on the phone (the general 1-800-837-4966 number, and then escalate from there) to negotiate a deal.
I have been out of contract (for a while now) on my legacy Triple Play bundle which consists of TV (Extreme HD), Internet (25/25), and Phone (Digital Voice/Unlimited). My total bill after discounts is about $150 each month (taxes/fees included) and that includes one HD DVR box ($17) and one digital adapter ($4) for an old SD TV.
Their current "new customers only" deal for a Triple Play with the same TV (Extreme HD) but faster internet (50/25) and same phone is $104.99 + taxes/fees with a 2 year contract but not including any additional STB upgrades (e.g. DVR, additional boxes, etc.). You also get a $250 Visa debit card. Again, this is new customers only. http://www22.verizon.com/home/shop/shopping.htm
I told the retention CSR that while I can cancel my service and sign up as as new account under my wife, I rather not waste the time and deal with a potential downtime of a few days (and the hassle and risk of losing my home telephone number during the switch over) so, "help me help you" work out a deal.
Here's the deal we came up with:
I get to keep my existing Triple Play bundle and options, but now I get faster Internet (50/25).
No contract! It turns out that it's cheaper for me to go without contract than to lock in on a 2 year contract, even though I had offered to go on contract again (for a better deal). Go figure!
My cost? All for $94.99 + taxes/fees (total comes to about $114.66) --- a savings of $30-$35 each month, for the first year (price guaranteed). At the end of the first year, I'll just call back again and negotiate another deal again.
Update: Took about two hours for the new speeds to become active. For my 50/25 plan, I'm actually getting 58.47 Mb/s download, 39.11 Mb/s upload (Speedtest.net) on a wired LAN connection.

I am paying $57.99 for 10/2 internet service only for few years already. I can update to 50/25 + local TV channel for $59.99 + taxes and fees for 2 years which is very tempting but then I will be forced to upgrade to a more expensive plan after the 2 years agreement ended.
anyone try upgrade who has internet only? i'm not- and have never been- interested in their cable or phone offerings. I have an Ooma and am happy with the HD OTA antenna reception i get into my house...
anyone know if this is also valid for Frontier FIOS? they took over the Verizon service in my area. I think I only have 25/5 or something like that
