but it is just SATA inside right? Sometimes they have some weird proprietary connection internally =/. Can't find a 4TB any cheaper, may be worth it to void the warranty... dunno, or could be easy to pop it back in.

Where the hell are getting this 25/75 and 40/80 coupons from? I am a Staples shopper for years and have yet to see one directly from Staples.

This only matters if you are going to be using RAID. Realistically for a home NAS no one should be looking at RAID anymore. Solutions like ZFS (solaris/freenas) or Storage Spaces (win8/2012) use entire disks and discourage a separate raid controller. The OS handles drive consistency and TLER is not an issue.

I've been using greens in Solaris 10/11 for years and never had drives drop out of an array.

From other thread, apparently there is no security sticker, so even if you open it they might not know.

Is there a limit to the quantity that Staples will price match on? Amazon has a limit of 2 per customer, and I need more than that.

Downsides to that are that you can only get the $20 off on one drive unless they let you make multiple orders, each with the v.me discount. The drive might not be as easily removed and reinstalled into the enclosure for warranty replacement. (Ref: SD Thread and YouTube Video)

Honestly, I don't know, but here is what I think I do know.

My personal email that I use for buying stuff at random sites and staples.com. I never received anything in terms in coupon especially the 25 off 75. The email that I use for business purposes have a who bunch of coupons I receive consistently and on a weekly basis. I think Staples know it's more profitable for business accounts holder than personal. If they figure you're just buying when there is a coupon it's not worth it to them to mail out 25 off 75 and etc. If you're a business, they figure you're going to buy a lots of office products and probably make up the lost on the coupon. So if you can distinguish yourself as a business with your emails I guess you can end up getting the coupons.
