Thanks, been looking for a deal on a gig switch and it's metal to boot! Interesting how the plastic TEG-S8G supports double the MAC address entires. I thought the only difference was the housing material.

Amazing Switch
Very good switch hooked up both of my Nas to it, i hooked it up and forget about it, one cool thing about it is that it has leds telling you if you have 100mb or 1gbit connections hooked up to it, and it doesnt generate much heat at all you can see in one of my pictures i just ended up tucking it behind the unraid, and i keep everything in my closet with the door closed all the time.

Nice setup, i only have the 212 synology as a NAS as i don't download as much. I'm still trying to understand why people need so much room with a NAS. I usually start deleting stuff like movies that are more than 5 years old. |

Metal housing ftw. I love the one I got a while back. I keep it in my car as a backup switch for network troubleshooting.

does anyone have an opinion between this and the netgear GS605AV-100NAR?
Aside from the obvious # of ports. I primarily need it for gaming via ps3, NAS and HD video/audio playback(MKV files). My current networks pretty solid, but I need to expand via a second switch. without the boasted HD theatre and gaming benefit by netgear there doesn't seem to be much of a difference. I welcome any knowledge. |

Agreed, it hasn't hit $20 this year yet. I'm a patient soul, I already have one, and am using a crappy ZyXel as a secondary until I can get another of these for ~$20. The ZyXel is measurably slower.
I must have some kind of deal-site syndrome...I get a number in my head and refuse to buy above that amount. |
