Did you go for the N54L? I cancelled my order. Already have a N40L still in wrapper. Not sure if it is worth another, at this point.
Was seconds away from pulling the trigger, but decided to hold off. I planned to use it for an ESXi system, but will probably end up building a whitebox system instead. I've read that the N40L makes a great "test" Synology box if you need something to do with it.
I went for the N54L on sale this past weekend, helped a friend build the N40L for a SOHO. Wonderful little green machine. I've heard people had gotten the N40L for way under $200 in February or another sale last year. He paid sub $290 with a extra stick of ram in November 2012 time frame. I'd have jumped on an N40L for under 200, but the N54L for $240 AR works for me.
I would say the same, I needed the extra speed so I went ahead and bought the N54L, now I have a N40L that has gotten not much use (thing sat for about 6 months before I opened it) that I need to put on craigslist or repurpose.
