Paid this much for the non-3D version (after tax) at Costco recently. Not the slickest of deals, but worth it for the warranty.

I want this so bad, I can see it my dreams in 3d.

Does anyone know how much the non-3d model is?

Yours was most likely also only 120hz versus 240hz.

Costco has had the 120hz non-3d version for $3500 for awhile now. I've seen that model as low as $3200 locally.

I feel like this is the size you start to see a need for more than 1080p...

Only if you're up closer than comfort But at 13 feet back, you CAN notice the difference between 720 and 1080, albeit slight (and I have 20-20 vision).

we have 42inch at 12 feet and i can see the difference between 720p and 1080p very cleary.

for 4K i have seen it at Sony store, it makes a big difference when there are lots of football players names for instance in the screen all a the same time, but with zero content, we have no reason to get 4K for at least until 2018 or something.

interestingly all 4k i have seen are 84inch, not 80. except a sans-glasses 3D from some no name chinese manufacturer that as 4K delivering 1080p to each eye. that was fantastic if you were sitting in the exact right spot (head perfectly vertical, you cant lay down, and you have to be sitting in the right spot on the couch, its like every 10 degrees one right spot)
