My friend just received my X202e a few minutes ago, and he tells me that the letters on the keyboard are "stickons".
Are yours like that too?
Yes, they look like stickons. Keys are just ugly and feel cheap.
The fan is really noisy. Bigger than my S10-3T, and iMac 27 inch at the same distance.
Any clues about the touch screen problem I have? thanks.

Bigger what?
The machine or the keys?
As for the touchscreen, it's possible that it's software, but much more likely to be hardware.
The best bet is to reset the whole operating system and then if the touchscreen is still a problem, then it's a hardware thing?

Thanks, I will try. Sorry, I mean, the noise is bigger.

I've seen a few user reviews, mentioning that the fan was noisy, but I think those were about the Q200e and not so much the X202e. What with it having a different processor and all, it's entirely possible that they used a different fan that's not as noisy.
Hey, wait a minute.
I remember now.... There was some dude asking about the noisy fan on an Asus board, and he was told to update to a new bios, I think it finished in the number 8, like 208, and apparently, it made a world of a difference in making it quieter.
Perhaps you can check to see if your bios is up to date.
More importantly, of course, is whether the touch screen will work properly.
I haven't had that many touchscreen machines, but over a dozen and the few times that there was a touch issue, like part of the screen was unresponsive, it was always hardware, so reinstalling Win 8 like new, is the way to go for now, as there's no sense doing other stuff if yours is defective and you have to return it.
I really hope it works out for you.
Good luck.

Thank you for the suggestions! I just upgraded the BIOS to the latest version (208). No change with the fan noise. No luck with the touch screen issue. I don't think the manufacturer or Bestbuy really has done a check for funtionality before they resell their returned Asus Q200E.
Frustrated.

It's return time, unless you'd put up with having it repaired, but I don't think that's such a good idea.
I'm sure they have none of these left (well, I'm not sure, but I suppose), so maybe you could talk them into giving you a new one, maybe for a few bux more.
I guess it depends on how much you like the machine.
I've been on mine for a couple of hours now, by remote (Team Viewer) and I'm starting to learn about the Metro apps (I must have downloaded 100).
The real kool part about this machine is its looks, feel and touchscreen, so I have to wait until it gets here, to enjoy those aspects, but I can tell you that after tweaking it, it seems quite powerful and fast.
That 500 gig hard drive is giving me over 100 mbps in both read and write benchmarks.
You'd need a 7200 rpm drive to get those speeds in Win 7.

So you had/have both a Q200e and an X202e?
If so, is there a remarkable performance difference between the two?

You got lucky.
I guess they didn't wipe out the previous user's programs.
No. I did a factory reset twice.

So Office 2013 Pro Plus comes included with the Vivobook?

PS: I just finished tweaking my X202e and it didn't come with any activated Office program, just the trial 2010 package, so maybe it's a Q200e thing, or a BestBuy add on.

PS: I was just thinking that this would be a good time for you to make a Windows System Image.
If you ever swap out the hard drive, or god forbid, yours dies on you and you lose that restore partition, you'd still have the image with that activated Office Pro.

Yeah. Good idea. I wonder if I can make the image using USB drive.

As long as it's a 32 gig and you don't already have a ton of data.
Personally, I would use an external hard drive, as the space is so much cheaper per gig and it's way way faster to write too.
I can't imagine how long it would take to make an image on a thumb drive, but I wouldn't be surprised if it took 30 to 60 minutes, whereas an image of a new Win7 or 8 installation on a fast computer onto a decent external hard drive, takes 5 to 10 minutes.

No it doesn't. This may be from the Office 2013 Pro Plus HUP deal. For $10 the guy probably didn't bother uninstalling it.

Interesting. The Newegg Q200e refurb is 2nd generation i3, with Intel 3000 graphics but 10/1000/1000 ethernet. The BestBuy Q200e is 3rd generation i3, probably Intel 4000 graphics and 10/100/1000 "fast ethernet". The S200e and X202e is 3rd generation i3, with Intel 4000 graphics but only 10/100 ethernet.

Is this right?

The BB Q200e is also a 2nd generation i3 with HD3000 graphics.
A quick way to tell which generation they are is
The 1st had 3 digits.
The 2nd has 4 digits, starting with the number 2.
The 3rd also has 4 digits, but starting with the number 3.

PS: I'm not sure about which model has which LAN specs, but I do know that 10/100 is ample for any home user as no ISP even has 1 gig service, so the 1000 capacity is a bit useless, unless one is looking ahead to the future, when speeds like that, might exist.
