I saw this deal the other day and was wondering about it. My 60" Sony Wega projection TV is dying and it's time to update. This seems like a great deal, but based upon the Slickdeals silence, I'm really wondering.

Hi PalmBayChuck Smilie
I'm pretty sure this deal just started today.
Unless you are referring to a different merchant?

I've seen this tv at Best Buy. It's definitely not bad for the price. This is a good price if you're looking for a 60" LCD TV. If you have a Frys in the area, they do 55" LG LED deals all the time for the same price. It's entirely up to you. If I were you, I would run to your local Best Buy (check online which store has this model) and actually use the tv. You might even be able to price match if you like it and score some RZ points. Good luck!

Sharp is historically not a bad TV but with Samsung and LG investing hundreds of millions I think I might wait and see what they start releasing next.

Why is this not getting more +++++++? Is it bec of LED tech and this is now "old"? Unless there is a huge advantage in pic quality from LED, I dont mind upgrading my 50" to this for this price, since I can prob still get well over $500 for my Samsung. I know LED will use a bit less power, but anyone have a problem with this display's overall quality? (dont care about sound of course)

To be completely accurate, it wasn't this deal exactly, but on Best Buys TV page, they showed this as being $500.00 off list, which worked out to be around $895.00 I think. Even at that price, I was interested. This deal is even better!

My brother bought this or something similar almost two years ago. Looks good. I'm just waiting for LED for energy savings

For anybody who doesn't mind a refurb, you can save another $100 if you happen to live near this New York location [searsoutlet.com]. Highly YMMV as it is only one store that has it at this price.

$1100 at Amazon [amazon.com], but only 3.6 stars.

This is the price they were during the last Black Friday. If you want a big TV with a good picture this TV is great. However, it has no added features like internet access which people seem to want for some reason. It also has a very large bezel which is a turnoff for many people. It's LCD instead of LED. This makes no difference in the picture unless the LED TV is poorly built. However, LCD means the TV gobbles up about four times more electricity than LED.

Probably more people aren't jumping on this because it's not LED. These generate quite a bit of heat and use more electricity compared to LED of that size. My grandparents have a similar set to this (maybe a model or two older) and it generates a ton of heat.

One of the reviews on Amazon talks about horrible video lag, has anyone with this TV experience that? The specs list 4ms response time which is pretty good.
