man... these HDTV deal threads always end up in a heated discussion over what looks better, uses less energy, has better value and various statistics thrown around here and there. Reminds me when I was a kid my friend and I debated who would win in a fight between Bruce Lee and Chuck Norris; yea, the same Chuck Norris who when doing push ups, ends up pushing the earth down instead.

I think Jack Bauer will beat out those two guys. The body count on his show is like 500+ deaths vs Zero. Well one season he almost died but came back to life.

There had been reports that this model didn't have the X-Gen panel, but FWIW, the X-Gen logo is printed right on the box- so does that definitely confirm its presence in these units?
I talked to customer service and posted it on another forum here about 14 months ago (search Sharp 60" HHGregg). They indicated that it did indeed have the X-Gen panel.

Thanks, that explains the good image quality even if it is a re-badged Westinghouse. So does a re-badged Westinghouse that uses a Sharp panel make it a Sharp TV? Wink

I had a 42" Sharp LCD which was good quality. The sound sucked but I had external speakers I used. I now have an 47" LG LED (sorry, don't know the exact model #'s of either TV). While I love the picture quality, I'm seriously annoyed by the number of inputs. 2 HDMI, one component, one AV. No PC inputs like the Sharp had, and 2 HDMI inputs was not enough for my uses. Just something to consider.

I have this TV, bought it for Black Friday about 2 years ago at Best Buy for $800. Sound SUCKS, but tv itself is a great price for the size....I would recommend.

Take a look at this one. The specs seem the same and the price was about the same:

Sharp is historically not a bad TV but with Samsung and LG investing hundreds of millions I think I might wait and see what they start releasing next.
Will they be releasing a 60" LCD TV for under $700?

This seems like a good deal. I have a 46" Sharp 120hz LCD non-Aquos that has performed very well and has a reasonable picture that nobody complains about. The price is good for a 60" TV. The issue is that for not much more these days you could get a Plasma or an LED screen which will have a superior picture, and possibly 3D (which isn't key, but there are some good 3D movies). I just saw a 60" 3D LG Plasma go by for $850, which would be much nicer. So I'd pass because of those factors. If $150-$200 is a big deal to you and you don't have a big screen though, its a pretty good price for that size, and its not like it will be a bad set. Sharp is a good name for this.

Hey

i am an AV Specialist and this TV is our preferred one . the image is crisp and clear if i was in the market for a TV this would definitely be my first choice. We have two 80" side by side for video conference and i have to tell you we haven't regret it one bit.
Thank you for the feedback. I have a PC I have configured with Mediaportal and a bunch of old game emulators connected to my current TV, so the lack of any 'smarts' is not a problem either.

Now, I just need to convince my wife!

Cmon, Arnold in Commando killed like 500 in one movie, I love Jack but he needed like 8 seasons to do that... then again, I think Mr. Heston might have something to say about all this as Moses, LMAO. Btw, Jack did die, I JUST watched that rerun... they used epinephrine and electroshock to bring him back... poor guy, takes as much abuse as Ichigo in a fight.

How is having a thinner bezel an advantage when the quality of speakers built into the tv goes down drastically?
the thinnest bezels are on the highest end LED's

how many people really buy a high end TV( with a great picture) and use the Tv speakers?

It appears this is still available.

My dlp is dying. I'm thinking of getting this and combining it with the $75 egiftcard that comes with $400gc. That would bring it to $675 shipped.

Purchased, $746.86 - $75 = $671.86. Not bad for a 60" 120hz lcd

Not when thin bezel LED's which their horrible quality built-in speakers practically FORCE you to use a soundbar or home theater system (consuming several hundreds of watts) just to have sound quality better than an old AM radio....

The only type of tv sold today that is not an LCD is plasma.

So, you are looking for a plasma tv?
Not all LED TVs have their speakers embedded in their thin bezels. My Samsung has its speakers mounted behind the panel.
