They are leftover sets from Black Friday 2011 as this was a special model for that. They have been floating around on and off at around this price for a while. Several Best Buy's have them at in-store clearance at $692. There has been some question on the forums of whether this is just a Sharp labeled product that was outsourced to a different company. The menus and the remote were not consistent with the rest of Sharp's product line. As older LCD tech is it is thick and heavy by current standards and it is about as power hungry as current plasmas. If you just want a cheap 60" though, this is no doubt a solid deal.

I have this set from Cyber Monday 2012. If you're looking for a cheap no-frills 60" with very good PQ and 3 HDMI inputs, then this set is for you. Don't expect any bells and whistles you might expect from $1500 sets. OEM remote is terrible. No optical out, just S/PDIF. Does not output digital audio except from TV source.

I added a Yamaha ATS-1010/YAS-101 sound bar from Costco and a URC WR7 universal remote to my XBOX 360 MCE & Google TV setup and I am very happy. Picture quality with some adjustments is very very good.

This is really old tech. engergy use is whopping $74/yr, compared to current LED sets that use around $15/yr or LCD sets that use $25/yr.

This is an LCD set. It is fluorescent bulb backlit instead of LED which is why it is thicker and uses more power. If it doesn't say LED it's fluorescent, kinda like if the watermelon doesn't say seedless...it has seeds...

I bought this during BF season from Best Buy. I think I paid $700.

I've been very happy with it. Yes, it doesn't have all the built in features like Netflix, Amazon video, etc. like a lot of newer models do, so if you want that, stay away. But if you want a huge picture at a cheap price, this is your TV. The power use I think is kind of overrated. I live in a market with above average electricity costs and I saw no noticeable change in my bills since getting this TV. I upgraded from a 40" generic brand LCD FWIW.

Probably more people aren't jumping on this because it's not LED. These generate quite a bit of heat and use more electricity compared to LED of that size. My grandparents have a similar set to this (maybe a model or two older) and it generates a ton of heat.
hehe I know about TV heat, I have a panny plasma and if i'm cold in the winter just turn the tv on, ahahaha

$74?!?!?! That's like 10.6% of the cost of the television!!! And I have to pay that EVERY YEAR to operate the thing?!?!?! Looks like I'll have to cut back my McDonald's dinners from twice a month down to once a month... UGH.

This would be great if it had Wifi, Ethernet and USB connections. I suppose I could buy adapters for the purpose but there's always reviews that mention connection problems with adapters.

If it was LED it would be on its way to my house right now. I will probably end up getting whatever it was i saw at costco $699 for a 55" LED 3D TV

One of the reviews on Amazon talks about horrible video lag, has anyone with this TV experience that? The specs list 4ms response time which is pretty good.
There is lag for video games as there is no "video game" setting, so the 120 hz messes it up when playing online.
