I paid $6.36 for the same thing back in December on amazon.com, not bad of a deal, pretty cheap product though.

We are trying to reduce made in china items in our house and I was thinking of buying this! I will just try slicing your way then ![]()

Been looking to try one of these but have seen many different styles with some coring and cubing for you. I've always used a knife and find the cutting part fast and easy but hate the juicy mess and cleanup I'm left with. I just want one made in the us, japan, or similar country with standards.

I have this one and loved it however the plastic push buttons on the top handle appear to be missing a spring mechanism of some sort to keep them locked to the tool. After 3 pineapples the handle spins without moving the stainless steel part however I now just use a screwdriver to turn it. Not sanitary but you get what you pay for...

IMHO this makes the cut to look cool but I use a knife and do not waste pineapple by cutting close to the skin. Most of the cutting metods are very time consuming but I use a method like this and I'm done in 2-4 mins

Anyone can learn honestly my biggest tip is to start with using a serrated knife, ideally a very solid bread knife. It'll eat thru the top, bottom, and rough peeling part of a pineapple much easier, quicker and safer than a chef knife. Or you can always use a very sharp and well maintained chef knife but usually if thats the case that you don't need my advice to begin with. ![]() My process is : - Lay the pineapple on it's side - Slice off the top - Spin it around and slice off the bottom - Stand it up and starting from the top, start slicing downward to peel off the skin - Flip it upside down because you'll usually miss a piece due to the shape of the pineapple You now have a peeled whole pineapple A Dice method at this point varies from technique to technique but this is how I do it: - At this point, I usually slice it in half, take out the core via a "V" shaped cut, or for an easier way, quarter it length wise then slice out the core. I then put the quarters together to make a half and then dice it. Anyways, I'm a professional cook for a living so maybe it's a lot easier in my mind then how I'm writing it but either way, serrated knife is still my best advice. Ah way too long of a reply for a pineapple topic. |
