Hmmm, not bad. Thanks for the post, I'll have to think on it.
I've been wanting to get a straight razor or a safety razor (to bridge the gap from ****** regular razors to straight razor) for the closer shaves and comfort.
I stopped shaving after getting out of the military though, so I might just end up adding it to my wishlist so I can monitor the price and also so I don't forget about it. Eventually I will get a job that prefers me to be clean-shaven, so it would come in handy then.
guys. honestly, do not buy those crap. you will just hate it.
spend a decent $80 on a straigh razor or some $20 on a safety razor and be happy for years.
Care to back that opinion up? I have this very razor and I can say it does just as good a job as my 1950s era Gillette. The razor is metal and holds the blades securely, and the head design allows water to flow through for easy rinsing. What more do you really need?
I paid $7 for this, $3 is a steal for a razor that will definitely work just as well as a Merkur for years. If you're looking for an heirloom, or really need that qualitative "experiential" shave, you should probably go with a Merkur or such name brand. If you just want a hair free face, get it.
The actual blades are where the quality of the shave is at...I recommend the Israeli Personnas here.[amazon.com]
