Based on this article, this seems like a very fast SSD:
http://www.tweaktown.c And I know many of you drones are going to question the reliability, but those SSD reliability issues are really a thing of the past. All the major players from manufacturing, controllers, to Intel, to Microsoft, etc have figured it out. And if you say anything about MLC TLC etc, just know that you're just spreading bad information. All those issues are now fixed. Of course people are going to only stick with their Samsung, OCZ, Intel, or whatever brand, but SSDs are a rapidly growing industry and most of what you know is probably outdated. |

I should have been clearer. Not every issue is fixed. They never will be. I just used the "TLC this, MLC that" quote to impersonate the nay-sayers of any SSD that isn't a 840 Pro (or whatever their favorite SSD is). Anyways, this SSD does not have a TLC controller. It's MLC. Last edited by justainchoe; 03-20-2013 at 09:34 PM.. |

By all means, continue to TC and spread FUD about TLC. It does provide amusement for some of us at least. And don't forget to wear your tinfoil hat, and logon to SD through anonymous proxies before you post. Because I'm sure the manufacturing consortium is paying a lot of us to cast aspersions on your stern warnings to the sheeple that might be fooled into buying one of these new fangled SSD's. And we might show up at your house in black suits and Suburbans to whisk you away for "re-education". |

This *IS* an MLC device, but the controller itself is orthogonal to the flash memory. |

The deterioration rate of course varies by the user's consumption rate, but I don't see the wisdom of saving $50 by going TLC over MLC drives, just buy a proven product and let early adopters test drive this sort of stuff, no need to parrot a corporate sales pitch. Heck, you can even get SLC/eMLC drives cheap these days, almost grabbed a 128GB eMLC drive for around $90-$100 last week, 10-15 times the durability of TLC for a fairly small price premium. The SSDs are pretty fast now. SATA3 is 6Gbit/sec which is 750MB/sec. These drives are already hitting 500MB+/sec so it's not like they are going to get faster. They are just going to get larger and cheaper. So wait for that, for the time being, I don't think it really matters that much if you use your SSD for OS and programs. |
