Toms hardware has the HD6870 and 650ti on the same level. Yeah, I was surprised, the HD7770 is on the same level as the HD6850 and only one level below the 650ti although people will pretend it is much faster.

On second look, you're right about the 6870 and the 650ti being on par with each other in terms of pixel pushing (though not in power consumption, in which the 650ti is better). Thanks for the clarification

HD6870 is one level down from the 560ti. According to Toms, one level of upgrade probably isn't worth it. Two is meaningful.

Yeah, it's definitely good though. For one, having a beastly PSU is not really necessary for the most part in most single card systems.

I'm surprised your 8800gts is so iffy. My GTS 250 512mb was mediocre at 1920x1080 but drop the resolution a notch and it still got 'er done. Never could turn on AA though, of course.

Anyone have benchmarks to compare this card to the GTX 660?

I bought a 7770 90 bucks after rebates and it was the overclocked edition, but now I'm wishing I held out and bought a Nvidia card because I think there driver support is better. They are also more innovative. Just look at what they are doing now with the LCD refresh rate overclocking. This means you can play games at 120 Hz without fake interpellation on 40 inch screen TVs. You can do this directly through the new Nvidia control panel, although you need to have the correct model TV and it's kind of a crap shoot at the moment.

But the fact that they are officially supporting LCD refresh rate overclocking is what I'm impressed with. I hope AMD has the sense to implement this feature as well because what's the point of having a car that can pull over 60 frames per second when you want 20 Hz TV only has a maximum of 60 Hz for gaming purposes?

Not to mention Nvidia also has this thing called digital vibrance which is really awesome. AMD does have saturation controls, but that is not the same as digital vibrance there is actually a subtle difference..

For some of us, maybe few, that has dual monitors and greater than 1080P resolution it is a must to have more expensive cards ; ;

So can this 650 ti drive a 26" monitor at native resolution of 1920x1200?

mt gt640 is running 1920 by 1200 just fine, im just wondering if I should upgrade my dell xps now or wait for an even better upgrade.
