just checked it out, looks kind of okay.
30 days for replacement via Newegg and a standard Apple 1 year warranty through Apple.
bummer is that it is non-refundable.

I bought a new iPad from newegg beforehand (last year), went online, and registered it for the full year warranty from Apple.

I received the email with the 10% coupon a couple of days ago and took advantage of it buying another new iPad to upgrade from the iPad 2 non-retina screen. I'm hoping it will go the same way which is the full year warranty from Apple.

The iPad mini will continue to have lower specs than a full size iPad. Personally for me the mini is too small and I have no interest pocketing a $500+ device everywhere I go.

Might want to check your local Bestbuy, they have a clearance on open box items up to 50% off. They have the below Ipad 4 at my local store. I got an Ipad 4 16gb wifi only for $350 out the door and a Ipad 3 16gb wifi + AT&T cellular for less than $300 out the door. My neighbor got an Ipad Mini 16gb for $248.xx out the door. This is a YMMV.

$350 for an iPad 4 out the door? My best buys is nowhere near that price at most they take off $20-$30

It is a given that the iPad 6 will be here in six months. In technology, though, you will always be behind the 8 ball so no matter how recent you buy something it is already out of date. The fact is that current technology, this one, is already discounted and buyers do not have to wait 6 months for either the discount or the newer item which, if your wanting, you will probably have to wait even longer as they ramp up supplies.

Also, it is not a given the next ipad mini will be retina. It has already been discussed numerous time that Apple had to do a trade off; screen resolution for portability. One of the biggest points about the iPad mini is how light weight and portable the item is. If you add retina it will increase the size of the ipad mini as well as well as weight due to the screen and battery needed. Also, there is the increased cost.

They may or may not go retina the next generation but, chances are, they will. It is not a given.

Also, there is still a market for iPads. The market has somewhat of a saturation point. I do not think they will still sell the same insane amount since there is no justification to upgrade yearly for a device that costs $500. Most people use the tablets for lightweight work. Your email and facebook works just as great on the 1st gen as it does on the 4th gen.

In the local area, I have to use the store locater on their website to check out prices as well as the fact you can zero in on stores. The store closest to me prices open iPad 16 GB wifi at $465 while the next store prices them at $449. One store 20 miles away has them at $424. When they get too many in stock, usually I noticed around 8 of a specific model, they tend to clearance those open boxes out.

Kudos to you for getting such a good deal as well as your friend and his iPad mini. Wow.....
