Don't recall exactly but when I asked about it and that they had sent me an email saying open box items were discounted up to 50% off the sales person stepped away for a bit came back and told me they can give it to me at 50% off.

There's no way they will phase out the 9.7" iPad and replace it with the mini. That would be a really bad business decision that would cost Apple millions in profit.

I'd rather have a 12" iPad (for use at home) than a mini. My phone has a 5.5" screen that does everything I need when I am mobile. I'm not carrying around a mini too.

16GB? People aren't going to pay $530 for a used 16GB iPad with a few accessories.

Same here. These big discounts must be regional. The open box iPads at the many BB stores in my area only have small discounts.

That's solid advice for those that plan to buy new at retail price, but for those of us buying discounted iPads I would disagree with this suggestion. I'd rather have the iPad now, instead of waiting a few months for prices to drop. For example I recently bought a refurbished Grade A iPad 4 for $360 from a deal posted at SD. When the iPad 5 is released, prices for iPad 4 won't be dramatically lower than $360.

I just got back from my local Best Buy. Best buy, of course, is having their big Spring Cleaning event this week. Some stores are granted more leeway than others based on some confusing system that was explained to me.

I was told that some of those stores have their stores marked on their store page on best buy. Go to store locator, select your store and, if it is having a bigger sale, it will be listed under events.

This store in Arrowhead is suppose to be having a bigger sale than the national one.

If you could still jailbreak it I would have purchased it in a heartbeat. For now I'll stick with my JB iPad 3.

These Ipad 4's shouldn't have firmware past 6.1.2 which there is an untethered JB for. 6.1.3 was just released but I doubt any of these will have it.

Right. For some reason I thought Apple forced you to update your iPad when you first boot it, but that's not the case, is it?
