I loved this series and shortly after it, they came out with the new series - Mankind The Story of All of Us. I tivo'd it, but have not watched it yet. Anyone out there watch it and have an opinion on it?

I watched both these series and really enjoyed them, apart from all the recaps! They had to remove those from the DVDs right? I take it all with a grain of spin salt, but still fills in some of the gaps from high school when my thoughts were on anything but history.

I saw that post as well....and my first thought...being a black man, was if the series explained the economic impact of slavery in the south for 300 years that was the basis for that economy

why no one really speaks about the economic impact as a part of American history baffles me

they talk about the great manufacturer barons....such as Carnegie Ford Etc....but they skip over the large plantation owners who made a fortune and were just as wealthy prior to the Civil war

Their wealth was completely legal and endorsed by the fore fathers of our country for a long period of time

Many of the forefathers even were slave owners themselves

I have always thought that gave new meaning to the "All Men are Created Equal" statement

It's already on Netflix, at least for DVD. Don't see it for streaming.
