BlackVue DR500GW-HD Dash Cam $284 + $9.43 shipping to US at Massdrop.com. Ends 03/27/13
This is the latest dash cam from Pittasoft BlackVue.
I've been looking around for one for a while now because of vandalism going around my house and neighborhood, and people cutting me off while driving, running lights, etc.
This is the cheapest I've seen it. Since it's a group buy, it has a potential to be $239 + shipping, but the most expensive it will be is $284 + shipping, which is still cheaper than what I've found. Roughly 6 days left before it ends.
Some of the reviews say that the video quality is blurry sometimes, but it seems that you can put on custom firmware onto the device so that you can increase the bitrate of the video to 10-12mbps. This also has WiFi, which allows you to view the video directly on your phone without having to remove the microsd card - but some reviews say that the WiFi feature doesn't work that well.
Comes with 1 year warranty, and from the discussion page on the site, the admins say: "Yes, this has a 1 year warranty. If anything goes wrong, ship it back to us in California, we'll bounce it to Korea and we'll get a replacement unit out to you."
You also have the option of buying the Power Magic Pro for $26, which usually goes for about $50.
The box includes: DR500GW-HD, 16gb MicroSD card, tape, cable holders, cigarette power jack cable.
